Fear and leaders Ld

Hey, quick one for you, can a model use the leaders LD if he has to take a Fear test?
I had never thought about it before. I always just assumed it was the models own Ld that was used, but the rules dont seem to state any reason why you cant use leaders if you are within 6" unless im missing something.
