| Hi,
I thought about the death of a leader.
As far as I know, there are two warbands, which are allowed to rebuy their leader, which would be Undead and Lizardmen.
Are there other warbands, where this is possible?
Are there any warbands, where the new leader gains any special abilities (except from the "leader"ability itself)?
I thought of reading about the amazons that when the priestress dies, the new leader gets access to the Amazon rituals?
Any more warbands where this is possible?
Thank you! | |

- If the leader of a Sisters of Sigmar, Possessed or
Carnival of Chaos warband dies then their successor will be entitled to learn to use magic in their stead. The new leader may roll for a prayer/spell from the appropriate list, instead of rolling on the Advance table, the first time they are eligible for an advance. After this they are considered to be a wizard/use prayers as appropriate for their warband and use the Advance table as normal. Not certain of all the expirmental/unofficial warbands out there but Undead are the only ones that may rehire a leader, the vampire. The others just get the highest leadership score hero to step up.

It varies from warband to warband but most unofficial/experimental Undead warbands may. And yes the Lizardmen may as well. - Quote :

If you did, you should note where. I haven't read anything in either warband that alludes to a new leader gaining access to the rituals. The rule Mike quotes above lists the three 'official' warbands that have a magic using leader. Since the rules are written with 'official' warbands in mind, it would not be much of a stretch to apply them to other 'unofficial' warbands like Amazons.

| Our resident dark elf player claims that darkelves can re-hire a highborn but it takes a game for him to arrive from naggaroth. (it isn't written down, but he has read alot of warhammer fantasy books do to with dark elves). tomb kings can re hire a mummy. Carnival of chaos can re-hire a carnival master Lizardmen and vampires as mentioned. Restless dead can rehire a liche. thats all i can think of atm | |

| The Dark Elf player seems like a rules lawyer type of a player, incorporating rules from other similar games to Mordheim. It doesn't read anywhere that you can rehire the highborn, but if your group wants to make it a house rule, go ahead. Carnival of Chaos can not rehire the Carnival Master either. There is nothing in the warband rules about it, neither in the errata. Only the Vampire from the Undead warband has been mentioned there. - Errata wrote:
- OFFICIAL Mordheim ERRATA: Page 117, Death of a Leader; Replace the last
sentence of the second paragraph (“In the case of Undead warbands…”) with: “You can buy a Vampire after the next game, at which point the Necromancer will step down (whether he wants to or not) and lose the Leader skill.” If the Carnival Master dies, his successor is entitled to spells, according to the rules. Here's a snippet from the errata. Perhaps this was mixed up with the rehiring? - Errata wrote:

paragraph at the end of this section: “If the leader of a Sisters of Sigmar, Possessed or Carnival of Chaos warband dies then their successor will be entitled to learn to use magic in their stead. | From very early days we made it a house rule that any warband could replace a slain captain.

| What about this:
You can rebuy leaders, but you have to play at least one game without the new leader and he always starts with more experience than the older leader had?
