| In my gaming group we chose to houserule fear, to mean that you always hit on 6s, but it doesnt prevent a charge. This was because we felt that it was too powerful as it was. Is this a common thing? And if so, What house rulings are you guys using? | |

| Not too strong at all, if you ask me. Unless you're playing skaven or goblins, you pass more than you fail. Also, with the strength skill Fearsome and a chance of ruling Scars, Hardened, or Madness (Frenzy), there are definitely ways around it. | |

| I havent played often against undead, but against posessed i normaly take my chances with a warhorn(+1 Ld for one round) and a full scale assault. It seems normaly not to strong, because there are many ways around it like Styro mentioned.
And normaly most warbands don't have many models which cause fear, so you have more targets, that you can attack. And range combat isn't affected by fear at all...

| I think it is fine as it is.
Your houserule has weakend a couple of warbands, considerably. The undead, in particular, already often struggle in mid-game (in part due to a tendency of some players to lavish too much of their gold on the vamp and use too many models that don't gain experience).
One of the nice things about Mordheim, is the variety of warbands - the differences in how they play. The authors did a very good job balancing the starting warbands. The undead and possessed become much more vanilla with your change.
But, to each group, their own tweaks.

| If it works for your group, and you're all in agreeance, then whatever's best for the group.
That being said, I feel that Fear is just right; I don't know if I could participate in your group, since nerfing fear like that really hurts a selection of warbands, for whom Fear is the main weapon.

| "And they shall know no fear." That's from a different GW game Mordheim is closer to "And they shall wet their trousers at least thrice daily." | |

| I think that fear is actually quite weak... especially late in a campaign as more things that Styro mentioned come into play. | |

| Ok, the general feel seems to be that fear is good as it is. ill keep an eye on this as the campain progresses. so far we have only played 4-5 games before starting over the campain a few times, to allow every one to get a good grip of the game, and to test out the rules. It is as you say very possible that my undeads will struggle later on in the campain since my henchmen cant use equipment...
thanks for the input. | |

That is an excellent idea.

That's why vampires tend to be really pimped out! But don't neglect the dregs - like youngbloods, they are crappy at first but if you can keep them alive they can become very powerful.
We have a house rule that a ghoul character can have a lucky charm and a rabbit's foot (the vampire buys them for him and hangs them around his neck, smacks him a good one and instructs him not to eat them).

I assume you mean ghoul hero when you say ghoul character. I think that is a fair rule.
