Hi there ,
A few months ago I came across when looking for a few ideas on this page. Often I find somewhere a detail that I really like , from which I then let my own building arise. It is an interesting process. First, there is only an idea , a picture in my head that grows and even changes constantly during construction. So that I myself usually do not really know what comes of it. This makes it very exciting.
My nephew plays 40k. Last year he asked me to build some buildings for him. So I came to the table top. However, the results were much to be desired. But I was infected ! My interest is more to the Middle Ages. This is probably because I grew up in an area where every few meters is a castle or an old castle. Through my work I have also restored many old buildings , so I got an insight into the construction. Here I can let my imagination run wild. I would like to show you my building , I have built this year. I will begin with the " old mill ". The inspiration for that I have found in this forum. A drawing in comic style that has thrilled me immediately. What makes me most proud is that my mill is issued in a company for alternative energy.

The textures of the timbers, stones, shingles, and plaster are amazing. The details like the roller doors and weathering really stand out. I like how the model doesn't have a base and would be more versatile on a board that was perhaps more detailed, but would add some more details around the building so it doesn't seem too sanitized. Perhaps crates, sacks, tools, etc. Hope to see more of your work!

This could be the Quixotesque Freelancer's Archenemy...or not. It definitely is an UBERCOOL creation that captures the best qualities of Mordheim/Blanche look. The stone & woodwork, the attention to details, & the LOVELY ramshackle style give your creation a character all its own. VERY WELL DONE!   thumbsup

Oh, now that is quite lovely. I really enjoy the weird angles, the roof being wider as it goes up. It really does have the look of a drawing made real.

Thank you for the praise!
n
All somewhat more largely, somewhat diagonally, somewhat more exaggerated than in the reality. I like this comic style.
I used however Kokos. How does sisal let itself process? how is the colour?
I worked on to fray the something here with a wash-out. With the following houses I did not make the no more. I will still show photos of it. Fray were turned to a rope, therefore tousled look. alternatively one can use also the bristles from brooms kokos.

The sisal is the stuff they make rope out of...I found a pre-rope photo:

IngoisT™ Terrain 1280px-Pacas_de_sisal

As you can see it's pretty much the same color as yours. I usually do a brown was & then dry brush it in a sandy yellowish shade. I works great for tall grass or swamp vegetation also.  What a Face

Great stuff ingoist, very spooky looking roof section, and nice ides concerning the sisal, worked with it too, great material, and in combo with plaster it gets super duro, made trees of it!

You begin with an metal armature, then you take some sisal strings, about 5mm thick, and then you " drown " them in freshly made plaster, about the consistence of joghurt, and then drape them around the armature wire. Now comes the trick: While waiting until the plaster dryes up, you have to hit the moment where its almost hardend through, then take a steelbrush and brush over the surface to create a almost real bark effects.Let it dry and paint it, and when drybrushing you will achieve a super effect. Can be seen here under scenery, floedebolle, swamp board, have a look!Wink

This is really great, and right up my alley. Me and my friend Kalle builds a lot of stuff in a simular manner, sort of comic style but still functional and semi realistic.
Great job!

Very pretty. Your stonework resembles what I did with my streets. Your buildings would easily fit in with mine. Though I suspect we don't live near each other. Smile

Thank you for your praise! Unfortunately, I have at the moment is not much time to build. Also I lack the motivation.
One of my first building. Built beginning of this year. Here I have tried a couple of new materials and techniques. I wanted to try something first before I use it on my actual project the "Wizard Tower". Photos from the Tower follow later.
