GOLDEN TOM 2014 ANNOUNCED!

I am glad that with the upcoming GT2014 peaple will focus on the artistic aspect of our beloved hobby, this time its not about rules here and rules there, just awsome minis with paint on! And you greenstuff-loving-forumites out there, give your best when it comes to convert or even scratchbuild your entry, i´ve seen so many damn talented folks here, would be a shame to not enter with a altered mini!

THAT is a SPLENDID idea. Now as a Judge, I'm not eligible to enter a piece, but I have been thinking "what if" thoughts. I may work up a piece with some W.I.P. photos & post them after The Event.

I have two friends between "judges". This sounds like Italy's politicians way of doing things:a friend here...one there...and here are my votes. I hope i won't place in second or third position and have someone remembering us these "friendship links".

I have finished the easier part of this competition.Making the model. Now i have to do all the efforts to paint my model in a higher way than my usual mediocrity. Not an easy task.

PS:I forgot to mention it...i have advertised the competition in my Facebook page. Not many followers seeing it but...the little i've been able to do is "better than nothing".

Being objective & unbiased is a prerequisite for a Mod/Admin. If it wasn't the case, there would be at least one or two less members.

That's COOL! You might even find from the new members that you had more followers than you thought...or not.

I've take some "before" pics of my model and got some paint on him today.  He's looking not too bad so far.  Far too rusty with painting these days.  Plenty time yet to neaten things up at least.

Taking some in progress photos is a splendid idea; a camera is the harshest of critics, mercilessly pointing out every little otherwise unnoticeable flaw. It's a fine way to eliminate most of those slips...kind of.

That's the spirit. It is an opportunity to let your imagination fly &, perhaps, try something that you otherwise would not have considered...or not.

Small update: I've almost done my entry. Sculpted almost entirely and painted. I'll leave her it alone for a week. Then I'll add last touches and take some pics.

My first "I think he's finished" moment has presented itself yesterday evening!
Base is done and painted and the fig is done and painted.
But I didn't dare take the first pictures yet, nor ask my wife the dreaded "what do YOU think honey" question.

That, and I have my Crisis-2014 loot (mainly sci-fi scenery) which is calling out to me to be painted

Until my friend Tom Berg got involved in miniature warfare his hobby was finding little out of the way, largely illegal, taverns & there meeting strange Ladies. Once he took up the brush, he ceased to return home in the wee hours of the morning covered in scratches, somewhat like an alley cat. Tom's wife credited war games with saving her marriage. I would love to introduce all the anti creative hobby wives/husbands of the World to Mrs. Berg...there are alternatives to toy soldiers.

Hello friends, long time no see, and what a surprise to come back to

Sadly I don't really have my painting stuff with me at my new home, but perhaps I'll manage to go back home for Christmas extra early and paint something (though seeing as I have not painted anything in quite a while, I guess this would be more of a symbolic gesture, haha),

WELCOME HOME! It would be cool if you could enter/paint something. Most of the Folk entering contests like the Golden Tom don't really expect to win, but one never knows.
