| hi everyone, as I personnaly think GT#1 was a big succes, I assume GT#2 isn't very far away. though I really liked this idea, i personnaly think it would be even cooler if the winner of gold can decide the next subject, and maybe even be the head judge (and be able to decide who the other judges are?) so we keep it a bit mixed up, so maybe, if they want, the judges from this time can compete now too . it's just an idea, though. tell me what you think matt _________________ ..and by a roll of the dice you go under..

| Hey all, as I really enjoyed the first competition, managed to realise a project I wanted to do for ages and improved my painting an modelling skills, I thought it would be nice to have another competition... Perhaps about warband composition (ie converting and painting a complete warband, not inventing one), as somebody already suggested?
Merged with other thread of the same topic. --cianty

Oh, and I don't really mind what the challenge is, as long as there is one:D

| What about painting one figure, but everybody paints the same one? For example everybody paints a youngblood or equivalent of the warband of their choice. Or everybody paints 3 henchmen armed equally. or you must paint a hired sword.... Something slightly more thematic than plain old "paint whatever you want" In general people like me are not very motivated if the only thing that is being valued is the painting of a central figure. I plainly suck at painting, anmd do not enjoy it a lot, in fact. I will never achieve a GT for sure at my current painting level, but if the project boosts my overall painting of a warband it will motivate me much more than painting my assassin. I KNOW I *Will* paint the assassin for sure. I do not need motivation for that. Now, painting 14 skaven clanrats? That is an other issue.... Hope you see what I am saying. Dunno if I wrote the idea clearly... Cheers, Xavi | |

| I like the idea of all participants painting the same mini. Now for a warband member this obviously won't work but how about this: the competition holder (aka Tom) chooses a Hired Sword (or Dramatis Persona) and then that model must be painted by all participants. I have no idea which HS or DP can be used by nearly all (ie, ~95%) warbands. I know this is a lame example but Belandysh from BTB would be a good example because, despite him being hireable by only a few warbands, the model will appear in every BTB campaign (through random happenings and players enforcing that happening) so it would be useful to all players. Something of a similar style would be like a small dragon for the Monster Hunt scenario or other tokens or counters. I like Belandysh best though. I also like the "gory model" idea. Another idea would be a duel. Creating two models (on individual bases) that are engaged in combat and placed on a larger base (diorama style). The poses and combination of the models should make them look like one battle scene/diorama (instead of like two random models being placed in front of each other). I hope you get the idea... | |

Perhaps, after we have a few suggestions, matt could add a poll to this thread and we vote on the challenge?

Remember that the competition is still held by the almighty Tom, so let's wait and see what he thinks about this whole issue. I know there are difficulties with the medals so until those are solved the next GT may still be way ahead in the future.

And I suppose that a challenge like "Duell" will take months for the entries, too.

Multiple medals cause problems. But let's not discuss these technical things here. - Eliazar wrote:

| well i will deffo enter the next 1 as i joined the forum far too late to enter GT 1 -
whats the normal time limit anyways like 2 months or somthing ??
its a shame really on costs and stuff because what i think would ahve been a good idea is
Every 1 enters into a forum post who is partispating tom draws name out a hat each person buys a single mordheim model but keeps it a secret and posts it off to the name that was drawn out the hat for them every 1 keeps there model secret until all pictures have been submitted then there judged

I think I don't quite get this.... - TheWatcher wrote:

I think after one competition, it's hard to say what the normal time limit is... but I suppose that 2 or 3 months should be nice for something like a Duell-Diorama.

Martin I too find it a little difficult to read your posts, Martin. Please try to spend a little more time on spelling and punctuation. Bear in mind that this forum is not used by native speakers only but also by people from all across the world who are no English native speakers. Those people have hard time understanding some of the posts already (and respect to them for trying anyhow instead of resorting to their own language forums) so let's try to help them instead of making things even more difficult by using abbreviations like "every 1" or rushed out typos. | I'd LOVE to be able to take part in a GT#2, so I'm watching this thread with interest. I joined the forum too late to (realistically) be able to enter GT#1. And I have to say, the quality of a lot of the work was very intimidating! However - I'd still put in an entry for the next competition, and I like the idea of a hired sword competition A LOT. An opportunity to convert and paint without worrying about the model having to fit a particular warband. Sounds good!

| I most definitely am NOT a competitive person; the ONLY one I would consider challenging is me. HOWEVER, taking advantage of my photo connection for a post, THIS TIME I think I might try an entry or two. The Hired Sword is looking better to moi simply as it would produce a usable that I might otherwise have not gotten around to painting. Of course, having the Hired Sword DRENCHED IN BLOOD & GORE is a possibility . | |

ACTUALLY, the duel could offer the possibility for TWO or more Hired Swords, depending on whether or not it's a fair fight. PLUS, the duel offers a chance to make a group base, which is appealing to moi.
