Knights of the Light (Alluminas)

Some years ago I bought some Knights of the Light from the now dead Ilyad Games. A French company that had many resin miniatures in its catalogue. The Knights of the Light are from the french comic book "Black Moon Chronicles". I always liked the cold look of these knights and hoped to use them someday. The time is now. I will paint some of them, using rules of the Meneaters band. (so they will be mightry like they should be: champions of the lawful god of Light Alluminas, maybe some lawful warriors like the chaos warriors)

These miniatures are bigger than the usual 28mm, maybe 32mm.
Alluminas, for who remember, was the lawful god of light in the old background of the Warhammer role playing book.
I will paint the symbol of alluminas back on the red cross from the knigts shields.
Alluminas' chief symbol is that of a four spoked wheel in gold, representing the Fourfold
Path.

The minis are BEAUTIFUL. I'm looking forward to your renditions.

While he is done in your own unique style, you've captured the feel of the original paint job admirably. VERY WELL DONE!  

Definitely a distinct look on these guys, and that really makes them stand out.  Cool.

Wow, one of my fav mini line, had the ogre butcher with face mask and cleavers, and your paintjob is terrific, thumbs up!

You really are doing a SPLENDID job with the off white & the metal work. VERY WELL DONE!  

Impressive. I gave a look o ebay and some online shops and seem that these OOP miniatures are really rare and expensive now. A single knight of the light could could cost about 29-35 Euro. Fine I bought many of these miniatures some years about, when the cost was about 9-14 euro each.

After looking other warband, I think I will use the shadow warriors (elfs) warband rules. So I will use more miniature in my warband (9) and the weapons and skill seem more appropriate for my knights of the light.

Despite the Light association the Wizard has a decidedly sinister feel to him. Once again your brushwork is OUTSTANDING...GREAT WORK!

eheheh, in fact, in the original background of "Black Moon Chronicles" the name of the grand master of the order of the light is "Frater Sinister"

Thanks for the background illustrations. They fit in nicely with movements such as  the Spanish Inquisition, Nazis, & such...this illustration of Hitler in Renaissance armor, mounted on a charger & holding a Nazi Standard comes to mind.  
If you ever wanted to expand the project, some of the War machine: Protectorate of Menoth might work.  

Maybe like teutonic knights, after all the black cross with white background of the german forces (used still now on german fighter aircrafts and other armed forces) come from them. The teutonic knights rules from XIII to XVI century in prussia, later they create the prussian duchy (and later prussian kingdom) and later the prussians unified germany in the German Empire. A little of history

Teutonic knights seem were terrific fighters that rarely lose a battle. They were really cruel too, looking to exterminate all Lithuan pagans (or russian orthodox) without piet. They were feared for their skill and for their typical helmets with horns or other decorations.

The Teutonic Knights, being rather less well off than knights in more prosperous areas, gained Papal sanction to "spread the word" along with a considerable amount of blood & body part by crusading through out Lithuania, Poland, & Russia. You almost invariably see the Knights portrayed in snow covered landscapes; re, Lithuahia was rather swampy & warfare was easier to wage once the muddy ground froze over.
The Soviets produced a GREAT silent film Alexander Nevsky which is about the Battle of Ice. The Grand Finale of the Battle is the Knights breaking through the ice on the hitherto frozen Lake Peipus...served the bastards right I'd say.  

Here Fratus SINISTER, Grand Master of the Order of the Light:

The Holy Guy is definitely living up to his mane...VERY SINISTER indeed! AND BEAUTIFULLY painted; the finely shaded white, vibrant red, & burnished steel are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!   

I have a some of Rackham's Griffons that are now clamoring for attention.  

The miniatures are very distinct and characterful- I especially love the knight resting on his double handed axe, as well as the fire priest (and the familiar!). Using alternative miniatures is something I'm very fond of in Mordheim, where the feel of your models has more of an impact on the game. I'm currently working on a Witch Hunters warband that uses 40K WHs and Acolytes, as well as the Avatar of War 'Witch Hound' model, Gudrun the Wanderer as an Ogre Bodyguard and Van Halfling as my Witch Hunter-themed Halfling Scout.

But, is it just me, or do the masks remind anyone else of Cthulhu? They have a bit of a 'mouth-tentacle' thing going on... I'm also getting a small 'X the Eliminator' vibe :p

Also: as a fan of the Protectorate of Menoth in Warmachine and Witch Hunters in Mordheim/ WHFB, I absolutely love the 'so good that we're evil' factions- for some reason the fire themes they usually have just seem to do something to me... maybe I should see a professional about that?

These just keep getting better, although more sinister, with each post. The metalwork is OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!
