My friend is playing this Brettonian Knights warband from Mordheim: http://mordheimer.com/warbands/unofficial/bretonnian.htm however, there seems to be something wrong with the skill tables acording to him - and me.

Squires have access to the Combat, Strength & Special table, while Knights have access to the Combat, Speed & Special table. Somehoiw it would seem it should be the other way around. Also, the Special skills are alle described as 'the Knight can... the Knight must..." etc., so he suggests that Squires should have Combat, Speed & Shooting, while Knights should have Combat, Strength & Special, which would seem fair to me.

Is there anyone who has been playing with this, who can confirm some kind of mistake, or explain to us why it is made like this? Help appreciated! Smile

check out the Chapel Guard. It is a much cooler warband flavor wise and well balanced (if not under powered).

Now to your questions.
The skill table has felt wrong to me as well and I think it would not be out of the question to just add Strength to the Knights Errant and remove nothing. Combat, Speed, Strength, and Special all seam to fit them and as the warband is under powered it will not break them but gives them a small bump.
As to the reason that it was done like it was I think was a balance reason as most Champion level heroes only have 3 skill sets... but not all and as far as I can tell non that have special skill sets.

As to Squires having shooting skills. I think this was not allowed for a few reasons.
It would make the warband able to become shooty (even limited) with 3 heroes that can gain exp fast that can shoot. With this warband I think it was meant to be more hand to hand with limited shooting support. This would change that.
It would also go against the fluff that Squires are knights in training and why would knights in training not just use bows but also excel at it just to set them aside later and never use those skills again?

I've actually checked out that warband before, but since I don't play Bret myself, I haven't looked deeply into it - I'll send the link to my friend!
Might be an idea too yeah, giving them just the extra skill set. I do think however, that that's what the highest knight has, making the leader more expendable than leaders usually are. Giving them Combat, Strength, Special wouldn't be a problem for me though, and Squires could just have the same imo., since they're knights in training as you mention.
About the shooting - I completely agree, and that was what I told my friend as well, even though that's a bit unclear in my first post, now that I check Razz I see no reason that Squires should be given Shooting, since it's a melee warband who CAN shoot - like Undeads.
