| Oi! I gotz' annuder kestion 'bout da' Boyz. The rules for a sword say that I may parry the first melee attack in a fight. If I have two swords does it mean that I can parry two blows instead of one? | |

| No. Read the parry rules, it states that a model armed with more than one sword may still only parry one attack, but in combination with a buckler you may re-roll a failed parry attempt. It is not really stated anywhere, but this goes for other weapons(dwarven axes, weeping blades) that allow to parry too. The one exception are fighting claws which count as sword and buckler and always have to be taken as a pair.
Why still take two swords? Because of the expert swordsman skill and it looks cool.

I actually just answered this question in the SG Mordheim Rules Forum oddly enough! Yorik is correct; a sword allows you to attempt to parry once. A sword (or any other "Parry" weapon) and a buckler allows you to reroll a failed parry attempt. Two swords still only allow you to parry one blow. (Pages 20-21 of the LRB) - Quote :
- If your model is armed with a buckler and a sword, you may re-roll any failed parries once. A model armed with two swords can still only roll once.
Cheers. | |

| Well, thanks to your responses, I think I've formulated a good starting warband: - Warboss 80 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Light Armor 20, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Shaman 40 (Sword 10) - Big 'Un 40 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 10, Shield 5) - Goblin 15 (Squig Prodder 15, Shield 5) - Squig 15 - Squig 15 - Squig 15 Total: 500 Crowns (all my starting money) Do you think 3 Squigs are too many? Maybe I could scrap one in favor of more equipment, but otherwise this is the list I was thinking about. Look good? Edit: Oh, and I've done something that I've never been able to do before with a Games Wrokshop army: I've decided on a color scheme I like. I never could decide on a good color for my Space Marines, but now I've decided that yellow shirts and khaki pants with black boots and red bases/shields are what my Boyz will be wearing. Edit x2: - Quote :

| Yeah, I guess I do need the extra bow. What with all the negatives I'm bound to get from being out of range and moving it will be good to have all the ranged options I can get. So, if I were to take a Helmet out...
- Warboss 80 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Light Armor 20, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Shaman 40 (Sword 10, Bow 10) - Big 'Un 40 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 10, Shield 5) - Goblin 15 (Squig Prodder 15, Shield 5) - Squig 15 - Squig 15 - Squig 15
Again, the total comes out to 500.

| I'd change the Boys swords to clubs. They can make better use of these, and the clubs are way cheaper. This way might be able to buy another Gobbo. And are you sure that Shortbows cost 10gc for orcs? Usually they cost only 5gc. | |

| As far as i can remember there's no ratio. You can't take gobbo's as heroes and gobbos only count as half an orc for rout tests, maybe you confused that. | |

And are you sure that Shortbows cost 10gc for orcs? Usually they cost only 5gc. - Orcs can't take clubs, only Goblins can. - Orcs can't use shortbows either, they can only use regular bows, though you are right; the shorbow only costs 5 crowns, so... I guess that means I get 10 more crowns to spend on something. I guess that Boy is gettin' his helmet back: - Warboss 80 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Light Armor 20, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Shaman 40 (Sword 10, Bow 10) - Big 'Un 40 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 5) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 5, Shield 5) - Goblin 15 (Squig Prodder 15, Shield 5) - Squig 15 - Squig 15 - Squig 15 - Quote :

The rules say I am allowed to have 2 Goblins for every 1 Orc that is in my warband (including Orc heroes).

Bingo. And now that I've thought more about it, I should probably get more armor saves against ranged attacks with sheilds rather than helmets to protect my guys so that they will at least have something to protect all of them: - Warboss 80 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Light Armor 20, Helmet 10, Shield 5, Bow 10) - Shaman 40 (Sword 10, Bow 10) - Big 'Un 40 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Helmet 10, Shield 5, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Shield 5, Bow 10) - Boy 25 (Axe 5, Sword 10, Shield 5, Bow 10) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 5) - Goblin 15 (Short Bow 5, Shield 5) - Goblin 15 (Squig Prodder 15, Shield 5) - Squig 15 - Squig 15

| Well, I've got a group together with three other guys (two of them know the rules well, and are going to teach me and the other guy), so things are looking up.
Even though Orcs can take clubs, I still think I want the swords and axes. They just seem to be more useful and I won't be able to get much more stuff if I switch them out.

| Just out of curiosity, is there any other equipment that the orcs can now take that they couldn't take when they were first released. This is the list I am looking at right now for thier equipment: http://www.mordheimer.com/warbands/official/orcs_goblins.htmYou may have to scroll down a bit for their equipment. Thanks in advance! | |

| Okay, this is ruleslawyering, but anyway: There is no rule that prohibits you from using armor that's not on your list. This is a difference to weapons where you need the skill to use weapons that are not on your list. If it were not this way only dwarfs would be allowed to use gromril armor, only elves would be allowed to use ithilmar armor. The warband equipment list only says what armor you are allowed to buy at the creation of the warband. | |

| I think the warband lists set limits on not only the weapons, but also what kind of armour that can be used:
"Weapons and armour purchased, swapped or taken from storage for your warband must be of an appropriate type for the warrior, as indicated by the warband lists." - Page 79 in the rulebook
I think gromril and ithilmar armour both counts as a heavy armour, so everyone that is able to carry a heavy armour can have gromril or ithilmar.

| Well, not sure about that one. i always reffered to page 102: "Remember that your warriors lack the skill to use any weapons other than the ones listed in the Recruitment charts. " which does not include armor. But since page 79 forbids to use armor that is not on the list it would seem like gromril and ithilmar armor is really limited to elves/dwarves.
I guess common sense is to allow only the armor that is on the list, but ithilmar may be worn when light armor is allowed, gromril if heavy armor is allowed.

Including a Plague Cart I'm going to make from scratch! (£25.00 is a little bit expencive for my taste.. ) Carnival of Chaos Warband.HeroesCarnival Master [115gc] - Pistol, Mace, light armour. Brute [75gc] - Double-handed Weapon Henchmen3 Brethren [120gc] - Sword, Shield. 2 Plague Bearers [100gc] 6 Nurglings [90gc] [Total: 500gc] Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Cheers, Rens.

| My first comment is bear the official errata for Nurgle's Rot in mind since the original 'to hit' was pretty unfair. - Mordheim Rules Review, page 11 wrote:
Page 66, Nurgle’s Rot Change the fifth sentence to read:
“If the Tainted One makes a successful to Wound roll of a 6 with any of his hand-to-hand attacks, the target model will contract the Rot (note: Nurgle’s Rot only affects the living, so Undead, Daemons and Possessed are immune).”
Rules review available at: http://specialist-games.com/mordheim/faq.aspPlease ignore my 'smart-assing' if you knew this already! My second comment: I'm looking forward to your self-made Plague Cart. I think it's rather easy to convert that one (compared to the stage coach!) and doing so is a great opportunity to make some great additions. Like screaming faces, mutating arms or something like that... I'd order the basic bits like wheels, axle/haft, etc. via archive service though. Maybe this helps: Black Coach Axle and Haft (9947020706802) Sprue: Solid Wheel (99399999058) Chariot base (99379999030) Cheers & good luck converting!
