Hey hey hey... What's strange about a priest with corssbow?! I have bought a crossbow for my priest, and that was one of the most lucrative investments.

For a witch hunter, a crossbow is suitable, but a priest of sigmar is a holy man, who always fights in the first rank of the melee, and inspires the common soldiers with his unbreakable faith, and his heroic courage.
A crossbow just seems not right for him.

But like I said, Tagnator, it's your warband do whatever you want with them. This is only what I think about it and it shall not discourage you from giving a crossbow to your priest

haha .. My priest will get a crossbow sometime, but now, I don't have enough Gold crowns to buy one.. but still I got 3 crossbows and 3 shortbows in my Warband..

I think it's better to do the bows away..
else i can't win

@ Tagnator: Perfect. That gives you 6 shooters, which is a pretty solid base of fire for a starting warband. I think that should work.

I'm still thinking, What should I take? Undead, or Possessed?
I like them both really much..

I have written a warband for both armies, so could you give me some comments on that?

Hey Matt,

I think you should go on with you Undead, you're on a good way with them so why quit them? I mean possesed rock but you already have the most things for a Undead warband...

true.. but I have a dwarven warband, (only should paint the last ones.. but they're ugly..)
a half orc warband,
etc, etc.

<edit> look, I really love them both. they're both awesome warbands. But I think my win chance is higher with possessed.. and if I like them both, I think it should depend on win chances.

Matt listen well It's your choice But I would go on with Undeads first, and trust me you will have a good chance of winning with Undead if you use them well.. For an example, you've got more warriors in yer warband than everybody else, maybe not as strong as the others, but well with more you have more chance on hit and wound..

Atleast that was in my Warhammer 40k time, I was with my space marines against a huge orc force, and Space marines are better than Orcs.. but the orcs won because they where with much and much more..

But still think about it.. it's a game and it should be fun to play so make a good choice

Ok guys I'm starting a skaven warband and I'd like to ask some questions.

1. Is the Rat Ogre useful? If, yes in what way is it the best to use him.

2. For a Starting warband should i max out on heroes and some verminkin or heroes and giant rats?

I'd take the rat ogre latter on the campagne, he isn't that useful because you can hardly efford the other stuff you need to buy in the beginning if you take him right away.

I'd also take a good compromise of giant rats and verminkin. I don't know if that's the best way to play them, but it sounds more interesting to me than only verminkin/giant rats.

Starting off, max out your heroes for maximum searching post-game. I like a mix of verminkin and rats. Eventually, you will want to trade out the rats for verminkin

I know of someone who picked the oger right from the start, against common sense (he also maxed out the number of heroes). Strangely enough that person did very well in the campaign, because the rat oger did some damage to the other fresh warbands who were not expecting such a killing machine right from the start! And the investment was lucrative in that it takes a lot of time to save up 250gc once the campaign has started (believe me!).

I thought this was a very refreshing approach and apparently it also gave the skaven player the advantage of surprise. Yet it is a risky road to go down, because with a rat oger and so few warriors, the words "rout test" get a very different meaning. Especially for skaven with Ld 7...

Ah ok whatever. But You know that you have to take rout tests as soon as you loose one model? And three of these four have only T3.

And you only have three heros. That means, even if all of them survive and you win, you only have four dices on the discovery chart.

And if the rat ogre is taken ooa it's got a 1 in 3 chance that your 200+ gc go down the drain. ouch.
