Do you have a quote for where they stated this as official, I'm pretty sure they didn't officially recognise it though my memory is hazy on the recollection.
Sure. Let me have a look...
hm, alright. If you have a look at the way the Double-barelled weapons are described in the Ostlander warband (Annual page 41), then it suggests (to people who are picky about rules like me): - The header does not read "Ostlander Special Equipment" as it usually does. It says "New Equipment". An oversight? - The two weapons do not say "Ostlanders only". An oversight? - The background says: "Since then, the weaponsmith has been flooded with orders from some of the most powerful warbands in Mordheim." Here the restriction to Ostlander warbands is explicitly not there.
That's all very strange to me, breaking with the tradition of how equipment is usually introduced in Mordheim, but in the end these are too many incidents to suggest that this was a mere oversight on the side of the author. If only one of those three things occured I would say "okay, it is meant as an Ostlander exclusive weapons and they are just being sloppy". But the way this is done leaves me no choice but to consider this the introduction of two new weapons available to all Heroes with the weapons expert shooting skill. Maybe that's rules lawyering I don't know. No that makes sense, if you look further in on the mounts articles you have the Hired Sword, ....the guy with the whip and the whip is new equipment. pretty sure it is worded in a similar vein. My Annual is buried in a stack of books at the moment and unreachable for now else I'd quote the rules direct...The muleskinner, that's the one. I'll check for the Kislevite equipment also. Asan aside, Ostermark warbands, the warhounds my brother and I have realised, are immune to all alone tests as they are counted as members of the warband, so getting a bunch as equipment would work a charm as something different. | |

I'd advise getting rid of nurgle's rot. It'll make all of your friends and refuse to play you. Just a thought (i play CoC and I had to rewrite the rules for the Rot, its just too harsh. (i play CoC and I had to rewrite the rules for the Rot, its just too harsh. If you interested have a look here http://wargamessoc.19.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=6408#6408 ) Cheers for the heads up, I had a feeling that it was a little harsh. Your alternate rules are pretty slick too, I'll have an ask around and see if my gaming buddies are cool with it, if not I'll grab cloud of flies. I'm sure I read about a random event for some victims of nurgle's rot as a random encounter, they had somewhat more forgiving rules when the disease was to be passed on. As a CoC player do you have any tips? | |

| Well i have a box of night runners comming and i've never played mordheim before and am unsure of my list! How's this list look?
Adept weeping blades helmet total - 107
Sorceror spear sling total - 57
night runner club sling total - 25

black skaven flail sling total - 57
black skaven flail sling total - 57

3 verminkin slings clubs total - 75

I've given black skaven flails but i'm not sure if i should try to squeeze money from somewhere (drop WB's?) to give them fighting claws? Sorcerors weapon will probably also change depending on which model i find for him that i like. Any and all advice is welcome!
Merged with apropriate thread. -cianty | |

| Hi there,
I could use some help with my ostlander warband.
Only thing is i wanted to have my orge in the starting warband as he gains xp pretty slow and i wanted him to become a hero asap.
Elder 60c +bow 10 +hammer 3 +sword 10 = 83
Blood brother 35 +sword 10 +hammer 3 = 48
Blood brother 35 +double-handed weapon 15 = 50
Priest of Taal 45 +bow 10 +sword 10 +hammer 3 = 68
Ogre 160 +hammer 3 +sword 10 = 173
jaeger 25 +bow 10 +hammer 3 +free dagger = 38
jaeger 25 +bow 10 +hammer 3 +free dagger = 38
---------- = 498 gold
another option would be to take out all swords for an extra 40 old to buy another jaeger.
just tell me what u think and how i should improve that list.
best regards | |

| You could try starting with only one possessed model and using the money saved to buy some poorly-equipped brethren. The aim is to earn money in your first few games allowing you to buy the second possessed and more gang members. You should do your best to protect your heroes (you want the exploration dice they give!) so don't be ashamed to voluntarily rout once you've lost a couple of brethren. You'll get a chance for revenge once your warband is larger and once your heroes have had a few advances. | |

| Hi guys, my first post here! (will introduce myself tonight, after work) I bought the MH-rulebook the first day it was released, but havent been playing at all since then. My only gaming buddy wants to start a campaign, so I'll drop in. Thought about a Gunnery School of Nuln Warband, using outrider and state troop plastics. What do you think? Senior Officer 60 Double Barrelled Pistols (Brace) 35 Sword 10 Instructor 45 Repeater Hand Gun 50 Hammer 3 Senior Student 45 Brace of pistols 20 2x Underclassman 40 2x Hammer 4, 2x Pistol 20 OR 2x Spear 20 2x Pistoliers 70 2x Brace of Pistols 40 Marksman 30 Pigeonbomb 25 (just for the fun of it!) Please comment, I'd like to start some work on the minis! Thanks, Thomas | |

| My starting Skaven Warband usually looks something like this....
Assassin Adept - 60 gc Fighting Claws - 35 gc 95 gc
Black Skaven - 40 gc Fighting Claws - 35 gc 75 gc
Black Skaven - 40 gc Flail - 15 gc Sling - 2 gc 57 gc Night Runner - 20 gc Sword - 10 gc Club - 3 gc Sling - 2 gc 35 gc
Night Runner - 20 gc Sword - 10 gc Club - 3 gc Sling - 2 gc 35 gc
Eshin Sorcerer - 45 gc Flail - 15 gc Sling - 2 gc 62 gc
Verminkin x5 - 20 x 5 = 100 gc Clubs - 3 gc x 10 = 30 gc Sling - 2 gc x 5 = 10 gc 140 gc
Grand Total of 499 gc
There are a few areas where I could scrap some equipment for a Giant Rat, or something else. But as it stands this is what I usually start with.
Does anyone ever really use Weeping Blades or are they overpriced swords with Black Lotus??
Ive also seen people start the Assassin with a brace of Warplock Pistols, what are your thoughts on this?? | |

| Hi there, I want to begin a dwarf treasure hunter warband, and I came up with this list. It is not easy to do a list, the four heroes eat a lot of the money I have ... I intended to have the engineer and the two crossbowmen getting rid of what they can as early as possible, the biggest threats being high-strenght attacks and big groups of shooters, and having the heroes aiming for the possible objectives more than trying to attack the enemy. Originally I wanted two spearmen to protect my three dwarf heros, but I don't have the money ... I will have to do with one, the dwarf with spear intercepting the chargers and the slayers or the noble charging back on the next turn. This will help me get some charges. I fear the very low speed and initiative of my dwarves means they will be forced to react or work on the defensive rather than being aggressive - most of my ennemies will make circles around them ! And the high cost of my crossbowmen also means I will not be the master of the shooting phase, I simply don't have enough shots for it. How do you play dwarves ? I fear the enemy will make rounds around them, with little fear of my three crossbows, choosing their charges, and (unfortunately for me ) winning the game. I don't really know how to handle them. So here is my list : Heroes 315 Dwarf noble Dwarf axe + shield 105 Dwarf engineer Crossbow 75 Dwarf slayer Dwarf axe + axe 70 Dwarf slayer Two-handed axe 65 Henchmen 185 Dwarf shooter Crossbow 65 Dwarf shooter Crossbow 65 Dwarf warrior Spear + shield 55 Total 500 | |

| Some suggestions for you ... 1) Drop the crossbows. Dwarfs aren't very good shots and because they are few in number, you want them sticking together. You could take a few pistols if you like. For long-ranged firepower, take hired swords instead, They are cheaper and better. The Halfling is a no brainer and the Tilean and Warlock are good options too. 2) Start your slayers with sword and mace. This is a cheap option giving you the opportunity to parry and to stun opponents. 3) Drop the spears. Despite the first strike rule, Dwarf initiative means they will strike last most of the time anyway. 4) Try the cheap option of beardlings with hammers as your meat shield. | |

| I disagree with the crossbow comment. Dwarves are just as good shots as any generic warrior although they are a lot better at handling themselves in combat with WS and T4. BS3 is plenty good enough for a starting ranged fighter, especially given the increased range from the Engineer (short range is improved too). Also, the low maneuvrability of dwarves mean you need some ranged support in there. I do tend to agree with the rest of the suggestions though. Especially taking Beardlings. Cheap T4 troops are always good. I have seen dwarves do quite well in previous campaigns and they started roughly as follows: Noble w/ dwarf axe, axe - 105 (you could easily swap the axe for a shield as in your own list) Engineer w/ crossbow, hammer - 78 Slayer w/ axe, hammer - 58 Slayer w/ 2-handed axe - 65 (Dwarves have a low initiative anyway so striking last isn't really much of an issue. Plus T4 will keep him alive to strike back after his opponent and the increased strength increases the odds of dropping the enemy) 2 Thunderers w/ crossbow, hammer - 136 Beardling w/ axe - 30 Beardling w/ hammer - 28 Total - 500gc Only 8 members but it's not hard to acquire another henchman after game 1 (cheating stunties with their free wyrdstone ). The ranged support isn't very mobile but the range 36" crossbows will help mitigate that slightly. The extra 3" of short range over regular crossbows is surprisingly useful. Not trying to force you to use the list, just letting you see the approach taken by others. Good luck! | |

| I also have to disagree with no crossbows. I played my first Dwarf band last summer and the crossbows I had from the start were a big help. Shooting is huge in Mordheim, and with the range they can pretty much just set up and start shooting from turn 1. I found pistols working best for my engineer while supporting my Noble while the Slayers ran off on the flanks of my noble and just molly whopped things. I also started my Noble out with Gromil armour, which ended up paying off in a huge way. I'll post my dwarf band later, I have a low model count but it seemed to pay off for me last summer. | |

| Experiment with Dwarf crossbowmen and hired swords and see which works best for you. Personally, I prefer my Dwarfs massed and my firepower mobile. Others clearly have different opinions. Either way, here's one which I'm sure we can all agree upon:
5) Buy helmets for everyone at the earliest opportunity so your Dwarfs don't get slaughtered like little lambs. | |
