| Kind of spoiling all the fun for what began as a good old fashioned scavenger hunt! I've posted a special treaty on Liber Malefic here: It contains; - Unique insights into Marienburg crime and punishment. - An exclusive download containing a Marienburg back-story written by Rev Larny, who wrote nearly all the flavour text for Border Town Buring. - Never before seen campaign commentary originally composed by Cianty and I after the BTB adventure had reached its climax. | Wow. I just spent a couple of hours reading through all of this. It is great. I believe that you have said that this article was inspired by the locations in the articles for encampments. You mention the Apothecary and Alchemist in the Corrupted Characters article. Will you also allow the other locations that have already been mentioned in the original articles for encampments such as the generic options available in all locations (i.e. smithy, muleskinner, merchant and fletcher) as well as some of the more specialised options (e.g. from Sigmarhaven the Cartographer (with either the basic rules from the original article or with expanded rules like the ability to acquire a Map of Marienburg, etc), from Cutthroat's Den the Surgeon (a cheaper and riskier Apothecary) and from Brigandsburg options like Selena the Healer (although granted the current rules are too cheap and would make the Apothecary always a second choice) or Omama ben Buyin the Merchant)? I know that you are working on a Marketplace article so maybe most of these are in there since they involve making purchases. Also, here are some questions with quotes from the article... - Quote :
- Sanitarium
... 3 Dormitories. ... Collect D3 provisions from ground floor. What are provisions? Will these reduce the warband size when selling wyrdstone? - Quote :
- Sanitarium
... 4 Â Grounds. 1 Therapy.Affected by 'Madness' - Refer to page 119 of the Mordheim rulebook. The page numbers in the printed rulebook must not align with the page numbers in the PDF. Page 119 in the PDF is the optional mounted rules. - Quote :
- Bone Garden
... In the event that a zombie rises from the grave fight the battle as normal. The zombie strikes firstin the opening round of combat. If a Hero loses, roll on the Serious Injuries Chart. How does a zombie rise? - Quote :
- Hammer of Witches
100 gold crowns Availability:Rare 10 (Witch Hunters only) Is the Hammer of Witches available to any warband if found through the Bazaar of Books? I imagine that only Witch Hunters can use the book though and remaining warbands must sell it (for 50 gc). - Quote :
- Bare Before the Gods - The Dances of Darkest Ind
... A wizard with the Arcane Lore skill and this tome can learn spells from the Lore of Serpents. The wizard will gain an extra spell from the Lore of Serpents list permanently. Is the Lore of Serpents already available like the Rituals of Dhar were or is this spell list one of the many things still to come?

| For some weird reason the 'Axe-throwing contest' in Old Jarl's Mead Hall has become an Initiative based test instead of a Ballistic skill test. This is not correct. There is only supposed to be an Initiative test to determine when the Hero makes a 'Drunken Boast!' - Rational wrote:

Yeh, the provisions work the same as the food supplies in Border Town Burning. - Rational wrote:

In instances my articles refer to page numbers from the original hard copy publications. All my friends game with and refer to their published rulebooks so it's just easier that way. Madness is detailed on the Serious Injuries Chart. I'm sure you know this. - Rational wrote:

Roll twice on the Grave Robbery Chart. This will determine whether a zombie rises from the grave! Sorry, this chart appears in the special scenario Midnight At The Mausoleum. This chapter would be read before Infamous Haunts, hence the chart would be referenced from there in the first instance. - Rationale wrote:

This tome can only be used by Witch Hunters. Other warbands could end up owning a copy through these campaign rules. Subsequently the book could be traded or sold. There is also a slim chance that a Witch Hunter hired sword could enter a Blood Pact with your warband, then become equipped with the Hammer of Witches. - Rational wrote:

Spells from the Lore of Serpents previously appeared in Town Cryer for the Amazon warband. Sorry, I didn't think to copy/paste the shamanic dances of Ind. This reminds me that Rev Larney sent me a brain-melting stack of material he developed on hiring journeymen wizards who use spells from the eight Winds of Magic. Regards, Werekin

| Lore of Serpents - OK makes sense. Grave Robbery Chart - I missed that reference in the Infamous Haunts rules somehow! Bone Garden - Quote :
- A team of two Heroes from your warband may go tomb robbing in the post battle sequence. Roll twice on the Grave Robbery Chart. If the 2D6 result is 2 the tomb has collapsed on the Heroes! Roll on the Serious Injuries Chart for each Hero.
On a roll of 12, the Heroes find two corpses (suitable to become Zombies for Undead warbands) and find possessions worth 2D6 gold crowns in addition to making two rolls on the Booty Chart.
In the event that a zombie rises from the grave fight the battle as normal. The zombie strikes first in the opening round of combat. If a Hero loses, roll on the Serious Injuries Chart. Grave Robbery Chart - Quote :
- D6 Result
1-2 Zombie! A zombie rises from the grave. 3 Fresh Corpse. Collect a corpse. 4 Trinket. 2D6 gold crowns worth of goods. 5 Drugs. The time honoured tradition of smuggling drugs in bodies. 6 Heirloom! Roll on the Booty Chart. Do the 2D6 rolls of 2 and 12 override the results of two 1s (= 2) and two 6s (= 12) on the Grave Robbery Chart? I think it would otherwise a 2D6 roll of 2 would result in a fight against two zombies followed by a collapse of the tomb. OUCH!! Â (Of course a 2D6 roll of 12 would result in three rolls on the Booty Chart, two corpses and 2D6 gold crowns. YEEHAAA! Â Â )

| Haha I believe that snake-eyes results in a collapse as a replacement effect to encountering a pair of walkers. Same principal applies upon rolling 12. In response to your earlier question about the Marketplace player aid, yeah you have the gist of it. Some of what I considered flavourful material from the original encampments articles will be featured. Locations such as the Cartographers have been spruced up a bit for post battle sequence. May hope is that these visits encourage players to commit themselves to the narrative side of campaign play. The options could be considered a tactical challenge too. Which Hero should visit what location? Special consideration is being given to Goblins, Fimir, Beastmen & Skaven. Where as they can visit the locations in Corrupted Characters player aid, the Marketplace & Infamous Haunts are off limits to these warbands!! Other options for post battle will be revealed in time. There is also material from the old encampments articles being carried forwards to Marienburg and being expanded upon... Namely the property locations such as Hostelry, Tavern etc. Holding the deeds to these encampments means warbands receive a permanant bonus. Well, just so long as they can hold on to them! | Can undead warbands use the haunts? I'm guessing a necromancer and a dreg could pass as normal humans, if rather repulsive ones. But vampires and ghouls? They have to stay in the crypt and sulk? Will you be making a list for warbands that can be used in MiM(are recommended to use)? It looks like the more inhuman/bestial warbands will miss out on the fun. Not that I'm complaining | |

| Dregs have base urges. I'm not including any restrictions for Undead warbands. If your vampire decides to hit the bordello and gets frisked then it's your own fault!
The campaign story and plot objectives should help define motives for most existing warbands.

| Have any one yet played with the new gangs and rules? Any opinions on them?
I tried out the Fimir against an undead warband, narrow defeat. The Daemon fimm was great, sending ghouls and dregs flying. The others were okay, and surprisingly hard to take down. A small misunderstanding regarding the mystic mist resulted in some silliness. Being cold blooded helped alot against the undead fear. It will be even more interesting to test the Fimir again when there is some water to cross.
I'm also building a Sea Elf privateer warband and plans are already made for the other gangs.
Werekin, when are you going to show the warbands you guys play with?

| Make sure you get the use of the Mystic Mist right. Some people are screwing this up. It works like a bound spell (magic item in Warhammer) that is cast by the warband (not the Draich sorcerer). The mist is 'up' when the battle begins, but may 'disperse' in the Fimir players first turn if he fails the Difficulty roll. I've updated Liber Malefic today for the Infamous Haunts chapter that was previewed last month on TBMF. The counterpart piece for Marketplace would be ready too if it weren't for my sloppy timekeeping. I'm also struggling with the entry for boatyards because it's starting to look like a naval equivalent of Gorka Morka?! May roll this portion of the article out on the Rules section as a free-for-all at some stage. You wanna see miniatures? I'm still collecting them towards my MiM gangs. And I haven't finished painting my BTB warbands yet! LoL Actually on the bright side I did paint a miniature last week for the first time in what seems like a year. My girlfriend doesn't seem to mind the mess in her flat so hopefully more to come. This particular character was in support of my next blog update, which I have drafted, so will upload the pictures for (a new Marienburg DP) shortly. | |
