Hey everybody

Our current campaign will end in the near future thus I will have to abandon my Clan Skryre warband (which is still undefeated by my Undead and Witch hunter foes Very Happy). So I need a new warband. In our next campaign we are going to welcome a new player, because my girlfriend decided to take part with a warband of Tomb Kings (the TC version: originally transported to Mordheim as part of a rich merchant's private collection of Khemri artifacts). The two other players are going to interact well in their warbands' fluff with one being a Dark Elves warband, the other a Shadow Warriors warband. My intention ist now to create a warband that will suit my girlfriend's Tomb Kings.

After some brainstorming I came up with three possibilities:

- a second Tomb Kings warband, lead by a (possibly rival) Tomb Lord, who relies more on bows than her warband
- a warband of big things, represented with BTB Maneaters: Youngbloods & Half-Growns as bulky Cultists with some Ushabti, Anubis Warriors or Nefsokar Avatars as Ogres
- Arabian Tomb Raiders as a brotherhood, which watches over the rising of a new Tomb King threat in Mordheim (yeah, I've seen "The Mummy" too many times Very Happy)

I made some lists for starting warbands, which I'll post further down, but first some facts concerning our campaign:

Some important house rules:
- Armour is 20% cheaper, same effect
- Shields are 20% more expensive, but give an additional point of armour if used in close combat
- Any extra attacks due to dual wield suffer -1 to hit
- Spellcasters may choose their spells during warband creation
- Optional rules for blackpowder weapons are used

Other warbands in the campaign:
- Shadow Warriors
- Dark Elves
- Tomb Kings

My girlfriend's warband:
- Tomb Lord: dagger, morning star, shield, light armour, bow, asp arrows
- Liche Priest: dagger, staff, scarab song
- 2 Acolytes: dagger, staff
- 2 single Tomb Guardians: dagger, sword, shield
- 4 Skeletons: dagger, mace
= 495gc; 10 models; rating 78

And now my possible new warbands:

Tomb Kings:
- Tomb Lord: dagger, flail, bow, asp arrows
- Liche Priest: dagger, staff, vengeful dead
- 2 Acolytes: dagger, staff
- Tomb Guardian: dagger, sword
- Tomb Guardian: dagger, sword
- 4 Skeletons: dagger, bow
= 489gc, 10 models, rating 78

Maneaters:
- Captain: sword, iron gauntlet
- Mountain Guide: ogre club, harpoon crossbow
- Youngblood: sword, cleaver
- Youngblood: cleaver
= 485gc, 4 models, rating 78
--> only 4 models so I am able to rout after 1 dead hero instead of 2, which are only 3 exploration dice in both cases

Arabian Tomb Raiders:
- Sheikh: dagger, sword, shield, light armour, handgun
- 2 Champions: dagger, mace, bow
- Mystic: dagger, short bow, skin of stone
- Beduin: dagger, mace, bow
- 3 Nomad Warriors: dagger, mace, short bow
- 2 Nomad Warriors: dagger, mace, short bow
= 494gc, 10 models, rating 94

As usual, I can't decide, which warband I shall take. So I would appreciate any suggestions concerning the choice (both fluff and rules based) or simply the warband lists. Smile

I like the tomb raider story alot. Also you will be adding some (living) humans to the campaign, and imo thats always good for the mood of the story. Smile

I like the Tomb Raider idea as well although I couldn't in good conscience recommend the TC Tomb Raider warband.

I recently discussed the topic with Saranor on GW-Fanworld as well and due to every poster advising the tomb raiders, I consequently chose that warband. Smile
The Discussion led to the following list:

- Sheikh(60): dagger, sword(10), shield(6), light armour(16), handgun(28) = 120GS
- Champion(40): dagger, sword(10) = 50GS
- Champion(40): dagger, mace(3), shield(6) = 49GS
- Mystic(40): dagger, tufenk(15), short bow(5), skin of stone = 60GS
- Beduin(35): dagger, bow(10) = 45GS
- 2 Nomad Warriors(50): dagger, bow(20) = 70GS
- 2 Nomad Warriors(50): dagger, bow(20) = 70GS
- 2 Slaves(30): dagger, mace(6) = 36GS
= 500gc, 11 models, rating 99

I'm going to use HE Archers as base for the models, probably sculpting the turbans with green stuff (unless I find a manufacturer with 28mm turban heads).

I am not familiar with this version of a Nomad warband. It looks like the old Khemri: Land of the Dead version but tweaked?

Also house rules for armor and handgun cost?

I used the normal warband list from Town Cryer #20 and the house rules are described in my first post. Wink

Doh! A couple of weeks ago I searched all over for the cost of a tufenk! Good man.

Now I'm going to ask why you paid 35 gc for the Bedouin when in Mordheim he's just a normal warrior? The Tomb Raiders are another one of those lists that are full of typos and cut and pastes from original submissions that didn't make the final rules. Someday I want to do nothing and have an editor's job fof GW.

The 10gc extra for the beduin give me +1 to all rolls when searching for rare items.

Honestly the only reason to use the crappy slightly weaker warband list from the TC Khemri Setting are the Tomb Kings, which also participate. The two elvish warbands will be at least challenging, so I don't want my girlfriend to field the only weak warband in her first campaign.

Under normal circumstances, I would simply use either Reiklander or Marienburger rules:

Reiklander:
Captain: dagger, sword, shield, light armour, bow
Champion: dagger, sword, buckler
Champion: dagger, mace, shield
Youngblood: dagger, mace
Youngblood: dagger, mace
7 Marksmen: dagger, bow
Halfling scout
= 494gc, 13 models, rating 106

Marienburger:
Captain: dagger, sword, shield, light armour, bow, dueling pistol
Champion: dagger, sword, buckler
Champion: dagger, mace, shield
Youngblood: dagger, mace
Youngblood: dagger, mace
4 Marksmen: dagger, long bow
2 Marksmen: dagger, crossbow
2 Swordsmen: dagger, sword, buckler
= 594gc, 13 models, rating 101

More men, more heroes, more punch, no mage, no hatred vs undead - good deal.

Bedouin--ah, thats an interpretation I had not heard before, but in the last couple of months I have heard another that I hadn't previously encountered. (The Bedouin adds +1 to an exploration dice.)
Given the nature of the Tomb Raiders warband and your motives for playing it, I won't debate the point.

I appologize if it seemed that I was questioning your ability to write a competetive list. We are using the original Nomads list, plus the Arabyan Smugglers from Sartosa and the Trujuk list from RotC so I am getting them mixed up.

No apology needed, your post encouraged me to talk the other players into adjusting the four warbands for a more balanced gaming experience. Smile

Finally, this led us to:

Tomb Kings: small changes regarding heroes and equipment
Arabyans: province modifier for human mercenaries instead of new warband
Dark Elves: warband list from druchii.net with minor changes
Shadow Warriors: profile, cost and wargear adjustments to equalize them with the druchii

I've seen a couple of pics from Warmachine Factory. Are they in scale with Mordheim minis?

They are historical miniatures, so they are more of the true 25mm school. Closer to Lord of the Rings minis.

Saw some Unarmored Saxons on Ebay on the cheap, which was why I was asking. 16 bodies with legs for about 5 bucks... I have loads of heads and arms. Might be worth picking up.

The persians are actually as cheap as hell, but with only two different bodies (which also have the same pose), they fit better in a WH unit than an individual warband.

Besides my ordered High Elf Archers from Wayland are already shipped. Very Happy

This post is old... I wonder what you chose...

I'm probably late a bit but as you want to play a ''arabian'' style warband you can take a look at the relics of the crusade PDF.

I never polayed with it but I've gone through it and it seems to be good stuff...
