| I have been working furiously on a Beastman Warband recently. When it gets a little boring, I'll switch to humans or dwarves, but that's for another time. Here is a bunch of my WIP stuff from the last couple weeks. A Beasthound (the other one is posted in a different thread, and on my blog): The minotaur is below. I redid the skin, and I am liking the way it's turning out. I have to do some more rust effects on the weapons, and a little more detail on the face, claws, nails, etc. A couple of Gors: My Bestigors. They're looking a little rougher than I'd hoped, but overall, they're fine for tabletop: The Shaman: My leader: I'll update this once I have finished with them. Thanks for checking this out. | |

| Overall looking really good! Very clearly defined colours and good depth, and the painting is tidy and neat. The more colourful minis are the most striking, I think. Some advice: darken the red spatter on the weapons, and add some gloss varnish, or chestnut ink - to me it looks a bit bright and flat. Still, you've done a good job! | |

This is something I often have trouble with. I have thought about purchasing "Clear Red" or one of those types of paints by Reaper just for this purpose, but I will try the Chestnut Ink. @Nala: Thanks so much!

| really nice warband sir paint jobs look great I really liek the older beastmen models as they have a lot of character. As for the blood I would recommend Tamiya Clear Red, I was recommended it over on the Carpe Noctum forum a while back and don't regret getting it, its really good for blood effects. | |

folketsfiende summarised it all. Looking at the shaman's robe and staff I don't know what to say. One thing I noticed is that you painted them to have "normal eyes", not those red ones I'm used to see. And I like your way better.

Thanks for the compliments; they're very appreciated. The eyes were something that I wrestled with for a while — not the actual painting of the eyes, but rather, what to do with them. I had used the ol' red-eye in the past, but it just doesn't look good (to me). Besides, I find goats' eyes more horrifying, and in fact, scarier than red eyes (google if if you don't know what I mean; the eyes are huge). However, I am at a loss on how to capture that adequately on a miniature.

| Dear Ordo,
i've been painting for some odd 25 years or so, and only recently bought my first pot of tamiya clear red paint. As far as i know, this is the best and easiest way to paint blood on weapons and such. Never saw anything more realistic. (the stuff is thicker than our regular paints, glossy, and when you put a little black ink on it while still wet, it interacts)
should you be in need of something to paint oil spots ; use the tamiya smoke ; it's a kind of translucent black
keep up the good work | |

| And since there are beastmen involved (Beasthounds, actually), I thought I'd throw these in here, too. Check out my updates if you have the chance. http://mordheimpdx.blogspot.com | |

| The beasties are looking mighty fine! Beastmen warbands have a lot of potential for fun painting and modeling, and it really shows in your work. The Bestigors with the Halberds are definitely my fave! | |
