| Do you listen to some special kind of music while playing Mordheim?
I first had the thought when I saw some Roleplay-CDs in a local RPG-store, so during the last game we were listening to some Folk and Viking Metal, as well as some Gothic Music. It was kinda fun, so did you guys already tried something similar?

| Actually I don't see why Metal is geekyier than punk, but I don't think that's what you mean. I usually listen to Metal, so it was just a little step to bring it in our Mordheim games.
I wondered if someone bought CDs for playing them while playing Mordheim, like some RPG-Players do.

| Firstly: Nice topic Erk! Very original! Secondly: Geeky?... Errrr... I'd say "de gustibus non est disputandum" Thirdly: Yes, we do listen to music while playing. Usually laptop+stereo and mp3 playlist. The kind of music we listen to...hmmm, diverse. Extremely diverse I'd say, because we all have different taste in the group. There has been pop, rock, classical, metal... I have to admit I'm usually responsible for the latter | |

| Sometimes, a good old video game music or film soundtrack is excellent too! I'm thinking about the music from "WarCraft II" - you can just put the game CD in your CD-Player and start it from track 2 and your Mordheim game becomes even more "martial" !
About the film soundtracks, maybe the Lord of the Rings OST? or "Last of the Mohicans" (reaaaally cool soundtrack)?
waddya think ? | |

| The soundtrack of "Last of the Mohicans" is great, although I never thought about listening to it in Mordheim. Good idea! When playing Warhammer Fantasy, we often listen to Turisas, Ensiferum or Amon Amarth- songs full of battle, glory and heroic warriors But if we play Warhammer 40k, the first choice is of course Bolt Thrower! I love to listen to the song "Swamped" by Lacuna Coil while building Mordheim buildings and scenery, somehow the music fits perfectly to my personal picture of the city of the damned. | |

| Aaaah yes Tortiou! The Warcraft II music We haven't used that in a while. And of course tortiou is also right about LotR OST. A must. @ Erkwin: I never actually listenend to Bolt Thrower... A band that actually defines itself through WH40K? .... I'll have to give it a try

| This IS a great topic. The soundtracks from war movies are great: Last of the Mohicans, The 300, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (bring on dem orcs!), Master and Commander, Kingdom of Heaven, etc. are all fantastic. Also, Halo and game soundtracks are good as well. I have the Two Towers soundtrack, and I love to play that one. The local GW plays these soundtracks during the day, so that is where I got the inspiration.
It all depends what you are in the mood for.

| Black metal would be the most suitable for Mordheim. The dark imagery is perfect. Some Darkthrone or Naglfar.
All the folk metal would be perfect for Warhammer fantasy. Some ensiferum or Equilibrium. Maybe even some Skyclad
Edit: For lighter days, I'll take some Gryphon or Jethro Tull thaniks.

| Music to gaming or painting is key! I love getting in the right mood (then again I am greatly dependant of music) I had a massive fantasy/soundtrack playlist, perfectly suited for every gaming moment and more... BUT... this morning as a sign of the coming apocolypse... my harddrive got fried!! 230 gigs of brilliant music... all gone... goooooooone... so, after I get myself over this suicidal moment... (luckily, there are no beams in my house to which to attach my own gallows... ) I'll have to play the music myself (stroke of luck, I play the harp, which fits the mordheim setting pretty well) - I'ts just a bit hard to play, game, and invoke the wrath of Khorne at the same time... :S nooes, my music | |

| Hmm, we don't really play to any music; just cake, tea and the noise of cars driving by.
I do like to listen to music when I paint: Erasure, The Feeling, The Killers, 60's Motown. And who can ignore the Steve Miller Band?

| although I'll never be able to listen to this music while playing mordheim (it's hard enough to find someone willing to play, thus i can't scare them off with (some of) my music...), I suppose Azrael or Ulver would be nice. For those who don't know them, it's like pretty "evil" black metal with the proper dirty sound of it's early years. furthermore, the game soundtrack of Das Schwarze Auge will fit nicely. if anyone wants to try it, i could send it via e-mail, as the tracks are midi files and only a few kb in size:)
now, the music I'm actually listening to when playing mordheim (these few occasions) is ska. doesn't fit the theme at all but it's damn great music nevertheless...

| We pretty much listen to wahtever is going on - either radio or massive, random playlists that have everything from techno to bagpipes (heh, even techno pipes). Techno/Dance music cos one of my mates is wierd like that and bagpipes because I play them and hate some of the music my mate puts on, so I even it out. Other than that though we would probably have to be one of the only groups who doesn't listen to metal. That's what I find so annoying with GW stores is that everytime you (or I) walk in there they always have heavy metal playing loudly. Really, someone screaming into a mike doesn't consitute music. Volume never makes up for talent! (Heh, says a lot that I play the bagpipes ) Speaking of Last of the Mohicans though - it is great, especially on pipes. | |
