BtB Maneaters, new pics 03. October 2011

After i bought so many ogres for my different warbands i thought about playing a Maneater warband.

Now i started this project with two ogre bulls which i will use as Youngbloods.

I saw the faces of them and i had a funny idea.

One of them has this Hulk Hogan like face with a beard, which is called in Germany "P0rnobalken" ( I hope i am allowed to use this words, if not i will delete them immediately). I wanted to see this beard on a black Youngblood. I thought of Youngblood type, which is called in Germany a "halbstarker Möchtergernwegmacher". I would try to translate it as "wannabe gigolo punk" or so.

And his name is on his back









I know this style is not so Mordheimish, but i hope you like him nevertheless

The second one is called face, because his face is really a beauty. One of his strength is clearly his body hygiene. He and his wingman above are clearly a shock team.

You have an instantly recognizable character with your Hulk Hogan Ogre...I think of Ogres are more Jesse "The Body" Ventura wannabes myself. The Ogre Ensemble is VERY COOL...you definitely have to post more photos of the Big Guys. All VERY NICELY DONE!

You inspired me to dig out the Herne & Jonne pack I've had in backlog for LONG years.

after a long break i was able to paint two more ogres:

Nr. 1 a classic mini: I think it is a must have for an Mordheim Ogre warband:

I will use him as Youth nr3., his name is Georg ( in German you can also call him "Schorsch")







Maybe i have to fix some spots on his jacket, the blue highlights went wrong. But thats just a minor.

The second ogre of my update today is the Hunter: I thoght this is a difficult mini to paint because of all the different brown colors. But in the end i surprised myself. I am very happy with him:

His name: Gregor Beareater











I hope you like them as much as i do.

Both of the BIG Guys turned out TERRIFIC, but the Hunter is especially so...I love the skin tones. VERY WELL DONE!

Great work on the ogres. What faction is the Warmachine one from? I don't think I've seen him on a local battlefield (although I might have and not recognized it because none of them are painted!)

Good to see the old Mordheim Bodyguard, too.

I like both new ogres individually, though I agree that the blue on the first one's jacket isn't superb. Schorsch's skin turned out especially well on the other hand.
But why do both ogres have different skintones and basedesign (not to mention the different looks, from the wild vs. from the city), when they are supposed to be in the same warband?

I started this warband with different ogre hired sword as basis. The pirate style Ogre the Arabian ogre and the pit fighter ogre are in warbands with different base styles

They had different bases and so i decided to go with bases fitting to every model and to include different styled models. So yes they doesn't fit so well together,

But the thing what will combine them as look on the battlefield is that they are all huge.

My favourite ogre is the 'diving' armoured Jes Goodwin sculpt. Rather a strange choice of skin tone for Hulkamaniac ogre... Looks unfinished? Maybe a highlight and some tribal tattoos? And the trademark bandana? Shame he's not raising the famed right boot!!

Superb effort. I do despise these bases though.

Funny, I thought I had commented on these already...

The mountain guide and the Mordheim bodyguard are VERY well painted. Your style is clean and vivid, and you've managed to combine brilliant colours of quite different kinds. Excellent looking gang. Are you planning to play them, or are they painted just for the fun of it? I've found that they are difficult gang to get up and running - my sons Maneaters are way behind in rating in our campaign, and are only now gaining momentum.

Yeah i want to play them because it would be a shame to not play them.

My gaming group is not so good in playing a lot of games with the same warband. We often start new bands because we have new minis.

I hope that on Sunday i will be able to play my tombrobber/ arabian nomads band the first time and my maneaters.

Indeed! They look smashing! If yoy plan to play them in a long campaign I advice routing as soon as possible in the first five or six games. The loss of even a single warband member is a devastating blow since they're so expensive to recruit. Also, it's good to build up a gold reserve. Try to have 60-70 gc left after each postgame sequence - you will need them...

I've managed to try most of my warbands out, and I've found that playing against higher rating warbands and getting underdog bonus really pushes their development fast forward. I hope this past weekends playing was fun.

Ha i got lucky on this Sunday: No losses ans lots of wyrdstone found. Yeah!
