Why do you want to avoid mastiffs? That cuts down your options quite a bit.

It took a bit of a search, but here is a discussion of various types of War Hounds: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/painting-and-modelling-f3/warhounds-t3606.htm . I hope that is of some help. What a Face

I really like the dogs that Wyrd Miniatures makes for Malifaux

http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16293&cat=259&page=1

http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16292&cat=259&page=1

Only problem is that you would have to do a bit of filling to make them not look undead.

I also really like the Wardog from Privateer press

http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/khador/solos/war-dog

But they might be a bit costly

How about these from Eureka Miniatures (www.eurekamin.com.au)? They are more like wolfhounds, come with a handler and are cheap at $AU 10 for the whole set. Thats about 9 $US or 7 Euro.

Eureka have some nice miniature ranges, particularly their pirates. They fit pretty well with GW in terms of scale, through their hands and faces are a bit smaller. The miniatures by Victoria Lamb are definitely worth a look too. Have a look at these:

If it's wolfhounds you're after, there are further options. Warlord Games have them in their Celts range (bad) as do Gripping Beast (not so bad).

Personally speaking, and seeing as warhounds have S4 on their profile, I prefer to represent mine with big, hullking brutes. I ended up picking some old Marauder figures (a Citadel/GW sister company), relatively easily, off Ebay. They look like this:

Witch Hunter warhounds Marauderwarhounds

I painted mine black & tan for a Rottweiler look.

What do these miniatures usually come up as on Ebay? As in what should I be typing in to search for them. I am just wondering, because I would like to get some for myself as they look like they fit in perfectly with the Witch Hunter Wardog look.

Well, they were sold by Marauder Miniatures as Dark Elf Warhounds and came in a blister with a whelpmaster or mistress so, try some/all of these. You will probably have to be patient as these are long OOP

When I picked up some on eBay a few months ago they were listed as 'Chaos Warhounds', so that's another thing to search for.

I paid about £2.50 each by the way.
