folketsfiendes Elysian Imperial Guard (New pics 120916)

I've been painting Elysians most of the summer, and though I'm not too fond of army painting, these resin models are fantastic! If anyone wonders about strange weapon combinations in the units, I'm using the D-99 veterans list.

Very cool.. will have to dig out my imperial guard, bit more of a tead head though! What edition are these imperial guard??

These are Forge World models, so pricey, but IMHO much, much higher sculpting quality than GW's stuff.

What does "tead head" mean?

...and those were the easiest! Black basecoat, then drybrushing with Regal Blue, Shadow grey, Vallejos Dark grey blue and last Space wolves grey. For the metal I just drybrushed boltgun metal on black basecoat, and smudged it down with brown ink.

Am very happy with how the flying thingies turned out.

OOOOH!...new shinies! That Armored Car ROCKS! AND the Flying Thingies turned out TERRIFIC! The benefit of using expensive models like the Forge World stuff is that you accumulate the pieces more slowly; SO it doesn't feel like "army painting'. Your "army" is coming along VERY NICELY.

Since Tonka hasn't been around for awhile to answer your question: "tread head"=tank freak.

Ha! I've got me a big bag full of Elysian stuff that's not even assembled... I guess I should spend more money on charity. Anyways, I'm putting the Elysians to the side for a while now - am embarking on a new project for the ash wastes: rastafarian journeymen riding prehistoric birds and a strange alien gigantic octophant (or rather: hexiphant - but I wanted to keep the similarity to octopus); equipped with loads of heavy guns.

Some in-game pics. Had a battle between some space marines, my sons orks, and of course the elysians. I'm glad to say that the space marines got horribly mangled. Always feels great to hand it to those overgrown freaks...


Naturally most of the Elysian forces were deep striking!

LOVE dead Space Nazis, erm...Marines! That a FINE LOOKING game...especially the aerial combat.

Thx Mordheimer! I'm quite fond of them myself, and they're a blast to play. The tides turn fast! I'm constantly adding units to the army, and these are my latest efforts.

A Lighting Imperial fighter, with twinlinked lascannon, and six hellstrike missiles:




Next in line is a group of veteran infantry with the forward observers doctrine (so I'm pondering different camo painting techniques).

PRETTY COOL STUFF! The Assault Vehicles have a certain appeal to moi...rather a Mad Max feel to them, although I wonder how effective a flamethrower would be in actuality. VERY WELL DONE!

Yeah, especially since the nozzle is situated almost exactly above the head of the driver when the flame thrower is directed forward...

Even more flyers? You're not a tread head, you're an air head!

They look better in these photos than they do in your home, which is another way to say "Buy brighter light-bulbs!", especially in the winter your models would really benefit from that.

I can't find any brighter light bulbs that are low-energy! Gotta go to a hardware store or sumfin.

Those drop troopers look absolutely amazing! I must agree with you that the FW Imperial Guard sculpts are much nicer than the regular stuff and those Elysians are amongst the very best!
You have quite a collection, vehicles, aircraft, turrets, sentinels and a load of infantry, awesome!

Go Elysians! Plus, they're actually less cheesy to play than regular IG, who in the hands of a good strategist seem very hard to beat.

It is quite a collection - I should probably take a group shot or two.

This is the latest unit I've added to the forces: a group of veterans with the forward observers doctrine, two plasma guns and a heavy flamer. I wanted to make some kind of camo uniform for these guys, and I'm fairly pleased with the result.

PRETTY COOL LOOKING! I really like the camouflage; like a tartan plaid, camouflage when well done always impresses. VERY WELL DONE!

So, the latest installment of things Elysian. I've now painted 2600 points, and will probably leave it at that, at least while updating my Sisters of Battle army.

Thanks alot! I played a game with my Elysians yesterday against one of my students Iron Fists/Hands (or whatever they're called - Space Marines all look the same to me...), and apart from doing well in-game, they were also looking good on the board!

I might take some pics of the orky stuff, but since most of it is not painted by me, I don't feel the same urge to show it...
