| * Correctly: The Mystery, Company, and Fellowship of Merchant Adventurers for the Discovery of Regions, Dominions, Islands, and Places UnknownThe Company is a union of small renegade merchants from all over Tilea who set aside their historical differences to increase their revenue. Actually, they did have little other choice, as for some reason or other, they were kind of cast out from all the big companies and now somehow have to make a living by venturing to the most dangerous, the most unknown and the most far away places you can find in the Warhammer World (they should have thought of a name for the planet...). One of them is Emilia Buenaventura di Pavona. She is a young Lady of one of the lesser families of Tilea, her parents having parished quite some years ago during one of the countless civil wars. However, she somehow managed to increase the family's wealth (don't ask how) and with some sponsoring from the Company, she managed to equip a little caravan and set off towards the distant lands of Cathay... I just could not keep myself from "starting" on my new warband (even though I've only got my bits and a knife here and am supposed to study)... So I quickly put together my merchant, she was inspired by the BTB background stories. Unfortunately I don't have a proper camera so I can only show you the crappiest pictures of a miniature I have ever taken... to explain what you should see, she's made from a wood elf female glade guard torso, her left hand was replaced with a duelling pistol and the right one will feature a rapier. On her head she's wearing an Empire head from one of the not so new anymore boxed sets: It's a different approach to all the fat guys around Eventually, all the wood elf stuff is supposed to disappear, with a nice skirt and some puffy sleeves replacing it. Next on the list is my Magician, a snake charmer from Ind

| EXCELLENT START with some COOL fluff to back it up! The High Road to Adventure is a LONG one...Marco Polo disappeared in the East for more the 25 years (1). This should be GREAT FUN to follow! (1) Wouldn't it be cool to do a returning War Band of Merchants with them now OLD Guys & Gals...or not? | |

Unfortunately, some drunk person crushed the display of my old camera so it's dysfunctional now, but as the holiday season is about to start soon, I'll perhaps just buy a new one. If not, I'll be back at my parents place for some time and I've got all the good equipment there - DeafNala wrote:

| Nice fluff so far, Eli! From what I can see on the picture the mockup is looking good, are you going to sculpt the puffy sleeves yourself or are you using the Empire puffy sleeves bits? Looking forward to see how this develops. | |

Looking forward to see how this develops. First, I thought I could use some Empire parts, but then I discovered that the elves are quite fragile in build and all the Empire stuff looks a little large on them, so I won't have any alternative to do some sculpting. And I remembered that I also got a picture of how the cart is supposed to look:

| The waggon will be scratchbuild, a balsa wood covered plasticard bottom, some balsa on the sides and for the roof, I'll try to bend the plasticard to get it like shown above. Depending on how skilled I turn out to be, I'll try to have a little closed department in the front which looks like above and some open storage space on the back of the waggon (it's supposed to get 4 wheels as it's a large cart and not just a small one like the ancient model). And with the merchant trend, we could host a meeting at some point with all the forum's merchant players teaming up against the marauders for an epic BTB battle OR a reenactment of the Ambush at the Ivory Road from the Ogre Kingdoms rulebook. | |

Good start on these Merchants. How do you plan on making the wagon driver? Will you be venturing into magnet based interchangable torso swapping shenanegans ala the Hung?

| Currently I cannot paint, that's why I started tinkering with some more ideas instead of working on the Hung... Modelling is a problem here, too, and even taking pictures, as you can see... but rest assured, once I'm back home in August, I'll work as hard as I can to finish the Marauder starting warband and as much other stuff as possible Regarding the driver, he will be magnetized, as some other parts of this warband, too, depending on the conversions (sometimes, you can't take of the arms anymore etc... However, the apprentice will at least get a magnetized torso so he can sit on the waggon or run around | |

| Whoooo! more Eli Warbands! and this time one I might be able to coop with! ha!
Love the idea, and nearly feel like fixing up some more warband members for my own caravan!
Build Eli, Build, for I want to see this band in action! anymore players craving for a merchant race, hurried on by marauders? I feel September would be a realisable month for me to finish some more scenery.... so we may have another meeting??

| Hey hey... to warm up for the finishing of my marauders and to realise some of the dozens of Ideas I had for this warband, I started converting a few model for it... First, a better picture of Emilia: She need her skirt and shirt to be done, as well as a nice guard for the rapier. Next is the snake charmer from Ind. The wire thingies are supposed to become his legs: Then we have ancient and experienced merchant Alano Pegolotti. I'm not too sure about the head yet, and the beard is supposed to grow in size anyway, guess why A Sellsword who will eventually look like a Cathayan soldier, hopefully: And last for now, three marksmen: C&C as always welcome Mind that there is a lot of GS work missing, though

| VERY COOL LOOKING Band of Roguish Entrepreneurs! You've managed to capture unique personalities in each mini. Emilia looks to be a hard as nails business woman with almost as little in the way of business ethics as G.W.... . Signori Pegolotti reminds me of some disreputable character whose name escapes me. GREAT MODELING! Now all you have to do is paint your heart out to finish the Crew in time for THE BIG AMSTERDAM THROW DOWN! | |

| Thanks for the comments! First of all, I fixed the link of the snake charmer picture, so now you can actually see him Here's a shot of my two sell swords, their arms will be magnetized to allow greater variety and their armour will be Cathayanized: And a picture of the first vanguard, who is still looking for a nice left swordarm. Arms and torso will be magnetized eventually and he's getting a horse And here's Alano's bodyguard, a Norse marauder from distant Skeggi in Lustria: Ez, I actually intended to put a purse in his hand and leave the beard as it is, but your idea is intruiging indeed... I'll see how he will turn out | |
