| Green and white looks excellent! You really increased your painting skill. Now if you want an advice, I'd work on the metal parts. Drybrushing is good for "dirty" warbands like skaven or orcs, but Reiklanders would look better if they had brilliant shining armor So instead of drybrushing, you can: - use Boltgun Metal (if you use Citadel paints) - use wash - I don't use Citadel washes, I make them by myself (paint + water). The best wash for silver metal parts is black (you can add a little brown, but it should be more black than brown) and for golden or copper parts - brown. - highlight with few layers: boltgun metal + chaos black boltgun metal boltgun metal + chainmail chainmail chainmail + mithril silver mithril silver (only a little in the end) | |

| Thanks! @Skavenblight: Well, when talking about the metal parts, I gotta say that I agree.....and disagree with you You´re absolutely right when you say that drybrushing isn´t really the best technique when painting Reiklanders and I´m already thinking about a method to increase those parts. But I really like the rough, battle-hardened and untended look of my Reiklanders. That´s the look that I aimed to achieve, so I´m happy! And I think the metal parts, as they´re quite eye-catching, have to stick to that look, as well. Well, but I tested the cool advice you gave me. So, silent Hans, as he´s one important character in the Warband got a Sword that fits his status: (I followed your instructions step by step....as good as I could ^^) Jesus, that´s a horrible shot I like the sword a lot better now, so I think my other heroes will get this sort of paint as well. That will raise them from the common Plebs The henchmen are gonna have to keep their rusty armoury, so my prefered style won´t get lost I guess | |

| I thought I would chime in here and offer a few tips / suggestions. Please dont take this as a criticism of your work. I am only trying to offer a suggestion as to another possible way to achive the effect on metal. You can achieve a "worn" look without drybrushing, simply by using different washes on the armor. Dark Reds for hints of rust, Greens for tarnish etc. You can play around with colors till you find something you like. Washes can be created with paint and water, but I would suggest paint and some type of medium, like an airbrush medium about 50/50 mix and a few drops of a flow enhacer to break surface tension to get into those tight spots. The trick with washes is thin multipule coats. Letting each one dry throughly before you apply a second coat to build up the layers and gradually achive the effect you are after. Also you dont want to slop it on and drown the figure, and remember to always place your color and "push" it towards the cracks where you want the color to sit. if you place it in the cracks and try to blend it up, you are basically defeating the purpose. Of course this method is time consuming and perhaps something that you wouldn't want to do for all your rank and file guys, but the effects are quite nice. | |

| No man, I don´t take this personal, this was exactly the kind of suggestions/advices that I want and need! Ok, for me this is surely some kind of an "advanced" technique, but I´ll surely try to adapt it.....maybe in this warband, maybe the next - But I will! That´s the cool thing about painting, there´s allways more to learn... Seriously: Thanks Puh, there´s so much painting stuff I wanna do right now, why does my semester break have to end? | |

| Getze, I HAVE TO complement you on that hans model. I'm not a empire fan at all, but that model is fing epic. The way he stands there with his weapon is very intimidating.

| @rory: So, as I got a free day, here´s my second youngblood! Johann "Hasenfuß" was a hunter´s footman before he joined the warband on it´s way to Mordheim, the city of fortune, glory and an unexpected, painful death. You can see that he´s carrying a hunted down rabbit, might´ve been shot by one of the Archers for supper. And he´s also having a boarspear (is that the right word for it? in Germany it´s called Wildschwein-Spieß). So here he is: Ah, and I tried to follow your tips, Horned Rat! Worked out pretty well and I agree that it looks better than drybrushing: C&C please! | |

| Yep, that could be called a Boar Spear (also called a partisan)...the cross piece stops the boar from pushing his way down the length of the spear & putting some major pain on the spear wielder; VERY NICE job on the metallic work. WELL DONE! | |

| Hey guys! I know, it´s been a long time.....the thread´s even landed on the second page Well, I apologize, but the University really stole my every day time to paint. Nonetheless I´ve been painting as often as I could, so here´s the result, my second Champion: Although Wilburg von Gladebeck might not be as loyal and trustworthy as the silent Hans, his long-yeared experience in street fighting and looting can´t be dispensed by the Hauptmann. He´s an absolutely essential part of every looting party into the streets of Mortheim, but he´s also someone better to keep an eye on..... Now as he´s also been finished......there´s just the Hauptmann left to paint! C&C please! | |

| Hey There! @Pirexian: Nope, no wahes there, it was just one coat after another.... And BAM! I proudly present my warbands leader: Theoderich Helbronn the oldest but nonetheless also most kickass guy of the pack! Having served in several regiments of the Empire for decades, he has finally decided to desert (taking Silent Hans with him) and take his chance in the potentially lucrative streets of Mortheim. His many years of experience make him the perfect leader for such an area of bloodshed, of course...... Ah.....on this picture it seems like he´s a little squint-eyed, doesn´t it? Phiu, that guy was a lot of work. Of course the base needs to be finished, I´ll do that tomorrow. And there´ll also be some group shots, if you want them! Now, C&C please!!!! | |

Higher education may eat up all your time now, BUT it will lead to a lucrative career that will eat up all your time later...no wonder they say "ignorance is bliss." | |
