| DAY 3 I wanted to get some detail/ over all completion to the model the Front ram! Not sure what my aim is! but i looked cool! the masts went on, they are fixed, so it will be hard to move. Please note that the crossbeams over the top are only tempery, they are two week to actually use, i just wanted to see what it would look like | |

| You seem way to happy and productive for a darkelf....you should denounce your wrongfull ways by donating this to the first qualified necromancer that posts in this thread as it seems to be room for plenty of undead to drench the shores of the unsuspecting elfkin... | |

| Ive dont loads more work on the boat this weekend. Ive still got to do the cannons, and the back decking, but then i think im ready to spray! Well let me know if im missing anything! and ive still got to decide what to paint it! Colour scheme: Black under coat, Purple inc wash. Highlight with wood/lighter colours. Cannons, barrals, blades. | |

| it looks brilliant! though... cannons??? I thought elves were all about bolt throwers? not liking to blow up themselves by using blackpowder?... give that a little thought... (also, in the malus darkblade books i've read it only speaks of bolt throwers, no cannons...)
other than that, I love the feel you've set for the vessel!!

| sadly naval battles are cannon focused!
Hulls are T9! Cannons are S7-10 (mostly S10) Bolt thrower is S6 max. makes it very hard to actually do any damage!
I know i could just try and shoot to kill all aboard and then board the other boat. but i mite just be out classed by cannons!
I will be having a Bolt throwers on board, at the front. And my plan is to have 2 small boats, with them as well.

| Dude the boat is awesome... but a cannon? Why not make a larger repeater bold trower and use canon stats... The ship is beautifull I would feel the cannons sort of ruin it... | |

| I agree with Mo! and Ezekiel, it's a great ship, but please don't use cannons. and you should definatly make the huge flame on the front, just like in the art work . _________________ ..and by a roll of the dice you go under..

| Nice battleship mate!
Tnx for all that WIP pictures.
Your colors seems right, but I think the highlight should be done before the purple wash for maximum effect.
Looking forward for the finished model.

| Wow! Really nice work, it's coming along very well and I absolutely love your use of the Dark Eldar raider pieces!
On cannons, while it is true that they don't seem especially fluffy for elves of any kind, one can't ignore the obvious edge that a cannon offers in naval combat, and you would think that especially for a sea-faring race such as the Dark Elves they would employ the best methods available. While bolt throwers/ballistae can still be put to very good use in land battles, they're probably not so effective against ships and thus I can see the dark elves falling back on cannons out of necessity.

| Well being slavers I would assume they put weight on speed and boarding. The lack of cannons would be a great explanation for them having been captured by every other magic user through history (seems like the standardized way to learn magic in the old world ) but without a smaller armada you would probably get a thorough beating without cannons lest you find a dark elf equivalent to the art of war. | |

| Dark Elves don't use black powder. Their ships use ballista as has been mentioned already (the ones they use in WFB are even taken off the ships to use on battlefields once they land somewhere). They also use dirty great sea monsters with howdahs full of crew to destroy enemy vessels. Dark magic may also be a viable alternative to cannons. | |

| Not to put words in Frog's mouth but he and his friends play actual games with the ships they build and they have come up with a rules set to facilitate this. They also post battle reports on this forum, with pictures. Making comments about fluffiness and bringing up Man o' War sea monster ships is interesting but this ship is being built to fight in Flame On club battles and needs to fit their rules and fluff not GWs. That said if Kurgan could use his cannon as 'counts as' rock lobbas, Frog could place bolt throwers and 'count them as' cannon... | |

| well im left wondering what ive started! Well the options i have with this all seem to quite varied! I think what i will have to do is, so some asking! See if we can fit some rules to fit my ship. I think this is one feature that the naval games does not account for, = pacific army rules! thanks everyone for your input and compliments! I do want to keep the ship as dark elf as i can! just wait till i get the sails on! (dragon wing style!) | |

| Maybe if you tricked out your cannon barrels with those Dragon Head 40K Chaos gun barrels, the cannons would look more Dark Elven. The thing is to give the weaponry the right feel, not necessarily making it fit the Army book. | |
