| As some of you may know, DaBank has been given permission to organize a new Rules Review FAQ to clear up rules issues. The Specialist Games forum hosts a thread in which you can post your questions so they can be added to the FAQ: http://www.sg.tacticalwargames.net/forum/index.php?topic=643.0If you are not signed up on the SG forum and don't want to sign up there only to add your questions, then feel free to post them here instead. Before posting here however, make sure that it really is something worth of official clarification. It may be a good idea to create a normal thread asking your question first and if it then turns out that the rules are not covering the issue sufficiently, that the situation is ambiguous, etc., then post your question here and it will be dealt with officially. We are trying to make this a continuous process with an annually updated FAQ. Don't expect immediate answers here as the issues will be discussed with the respective people as quickly as possible, and we do try to get back to you as soon as possible, but we are all humans doing this in our free time so it may take a little. Happy posting.

| I have a question, or actually three revolving around the same issue. Since I don't know who DaBank is, I have no clue why his view should be better then mine? I hope he has some sort of authority so he can clear up some fog in the Rulebook. And yes. I've seen he made a ton of posts and is a 'Rules Guru'. My questions regard and issue I see starting discussion over and over again, because there's tons of different uses of the Characteristic. 1. Which units in the game exactly are considered to be Animal, thus having the Characteristic Animal and as such affected by all rules mentioning 'Animal' in its description. 2. What then, are 'normal' Animals, and what not? This in relation to the Ostlander Skill 'Animal Friendship', which says to affect 'normal' animals only. Although consensus will be reached in our gaming-group shortly, a list would be very convenient. 3. Does the Torch cause Fear in every Animal, regardless if it is considered 'normal' or not? Here's a topics right now running here on Tom's oh so boring Forum, discussing the Ostlander Skill 'Animal Friendship', which says to affect 'normal' animals only: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/rules-and-gameplay-f1/ostlanders-animal-friendship-rule-t3157.htm | |

His authority comes from GW when they appointed him as one of the official Answer Mods on the Specialist Games Forums and I believe he was on the Rules Review Committee back then too. That's as much authority to make rulings on rules interpretations as you can get barring being one of the Games Developers who worked on Mordheim.

| Woah, I would be so glad if he answers my questions then!
Seriously, it starts to bother me how my fellow gamers seem to lack the cognitive capacities to interpret standard English. Now there's people who want to have those with the Speed Skill Scale Sheer Surfaces Charging up a wall at, in combination with Sprint three times normal movement?!?! Rules are so clear, but they still don't see it.
Anyways, there's about a million things I would love Da Bank to clarify, not just give me additional arguments, but I'll keep the amount of questions limited. I bet there's tons of others wanting him to answer too.
BTW I can make an account on th GS forum if that's more convenient? And can I just go spittin' (relevant) questions?

Seriously, it starts to bother me how my fellow gamers seem to lack the cognitive capacities to interpret standard English. [offtopic] Well, that's because you have just started to play the game for two months now (?). Knowing you...I know you are all exited and want to comprehend the game as thorough as you can. But we made some house-rules prior to you joining in. House-rules that aren't always as good as they should be, we've come to understand. It's not that some people do not understand English, they do, but some rules are interpreted differently. So don't just go all personal on them (or me? I don't know who you're refering to) by saying we lack the cognitive capacity.. In the end we (like you) just want to play the game, and have a fun time, instead of sitting around and discussing the rules every time. (ok, maybe we should have done all that before we started the second campaign) - Quote :

Just convince them in a reasonable way... this game has it's flaws and isn't waterproof. Don't get all angry,.. [on topic] It's nice to have someone with a bird's eye view of the game... We will have need of your expert knowledge to answer our sometimes endless discussions. (with 9 people, it can take a while)

| Please people. Keep your personal issues out of this thread lol. Also: This thread is meant for tough questions which cannot easily be answered otherwise or which simply are not dealt with in the rules. So again: Please post your questions as regular posts in the Rules section first and only if they cannot be answered there and neither DaBank nor me add them to the list, then feel free to re-post them here. If you are new to the game, then you are most likely not able to guess whether a question belongs in here right away or not. Those who have been on the previous SG forums might post here (or over there) right away if they remember some things that need clarification for some time. I will be deleting posts in this thread strictly to keep it clean, similar to how Andy handles it over at SG. | |

| I asked the following question in the forum already but it seemed to me that this situation is not covered in the rules yet, so I would like to ask for clarification here: Can a caster cast a spell FROM OUTSIDE (with no enemy model in base-to-base-contact) into a close combat? If yes, which spells can, which not (roughly)? thanks for any answer in advance! P.S.: I know that you can cast a spell on an enemy model in btb, so if the caster is in CC himself. But i could not find anything what happens in the situation described above. | |

| Question! This concerns the Dwarf Treasure Hunter Special Skill: Resource Hunter. The Skill states that "This Dwarf is especially good at locating valuable resources. When rolling on the Exploration chart at the end of a game, the Hero may modify one dice roll by +1/-1" I figured, that each Dwarf with this can only modify ONE dice roll ONCE. So assuming you rolled a Three, ONE dwarf could make it a Four or a Two, but another dwarf couldn't use his Resource Hunter to further make that roll a One or a Five. Is this correct, or can all the Dwarves with Resource Hunter just go bonzai on the dice rolls? | |

| I've a question about animosity for Orcs, probably asked before but I can't find it anywhere
for a roll of 2-5. The “Wud Yoo Say?” result.
it states: "The warrior is fairly certain he heard an offensive sound from the nearest friendly Orc or Goblin, but he’s not quite sure. He spends the turn hurling insults at his mate. He may do nothing else this turn, though he may defend himself if attacked in hand-to-hand combat."
with the section in bold, does it mean that the orc/gobbo in question cannot move, shoot or anything beside defend himself that turn? It sounds kinda ambiguous as with a hero nearby 1-5 means he can't move and 6 means he charges towards the nearest enemy. It just sounds like the only members in an orc warband with working legs are the heroes... Could anyone clarify this for me please? |

| why are you immun to poison?
the drugs have the rule, that they dont affect posessed, but the poison should work on a posessed.

| Realy? I assumed i was immune to poisin since poisin is a drug. webster says a drug is, "any article, other than food, intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of humans or other animals." poisin is intended to affect the function of th body of humans(orcs, elves, skaven, ect.) or other animals. | |

| Only drugs have the lines, which restrain the use for posessed. It is declared clearly with each drug and isn't mentioned with the poison. - Quote :
- Mad Cap Mushrooms
[...] The Mad Cap Mushroom has no effect on Undead such as Vampires and Zombies, or the Possessed. - Quote :
- Crimson Shade
[...] Crimson Shade has no effect on Undead such as Vampires and Zombies, or the Possessed. - Quote :
- Mandrake Root
[...]Mandrake Root has no effect on Undead, such as Vampires and Zombies, or on the Possessed. the posessed has nothing mentioned, that he is immun to poison - Quote :
Weapons/Armour: None. The Possessed never use weapons or armour. SPECIAL RULES Fear: The Possessed are terrifying, twisted creatures and therefore cause fear. See the Psychology section for details. Mutations: Possessed may start the game with one or more mutations each. See the Mutations list over the page for costs.
the vampire has the rule "immun to poison": - Quote :
Weapons/Armour: Vampires may be armed with weapons and armour chosen from the Undead Equipment list. SPECIAL RULES Leader: Any models in the warband within 6" of the Vampire may use his Leadership instead of their own. Cause Fear: Vampires are terrifying Undead creatures and therefore cause fear. Immune to Psychology: Vampires are not affected by psychology (such as fear) and never leave combat. Immune to Poison: Vampires are not affected by any poison. No Pain: Vampires treat a ‘stunned’ result on the Injury chart as ‘knocked down’.

| Hi there,
we are planing to start up a new Mortheim campaign in summer. I have been looking around for rules and stuff for some time and found a lot! My question is, is there something like 'the current rulebook'? By this I mean, is there something like a community live rulebook? Because so far I (think I) only found different rules and rulebooks, and I cant decide which one to take. Or is it really just the standard rulebook together with the errata and extensions?
Thx in advance guys, Patrick

| The official rule book is available as a downloadable pdf from GW. There is also a FAQ and errata available from the specialist games site. Since Mordheim is largely a fan-supported game there are many unofficial supplements, rules. etc. This is confusing but very good. | |

| Hi there, thx, i know about this, we already played a mortheim campaign and also some multiplayer games using different rules from the internet and WD. I was just asking whether there is something like a community rulebook where the official rules are written down upgraded by some house rules etc. Maybe like it is the case for Necromunda. Just wondering if one could just use one big file instead of so many different files :-D best, Patrick | |

| Hey Fellas, I want to run a campaign based in Lustria and have read through TC 10 -15, I was just wondering if anyone has compiled just the Lustria stuff from them in a PDF that I can print off? I've seen some links to a good website (icircle games) but it seems to be under construction. | |

| I have a question regarding a combination of two skills, one from the rulebook, Jump up, and the other is 'ard ead from the orc special skill list.
Jump up makes you immune to knocked down, unless it is due to a helmet save or no pain rule, but the orc skill 'ard ead gives you a special 3+ save which makes stunned into knocked down instead, which also turns into 2+ special save if you wear a helmet, it also mentions that this takes place instead of the helmet save.
So practically one can have an Orc Boss which is all but immune to knocked down and stunned?

| what happend, if you don't want or even can't choose a skill at an advance: Example a LGT took Shooting and Academic list. the first 4-6 are easy (Haggle, Streetwise, Wyrdstonehunter, Quickshot, Eagly Eye, Trickshooter) but after that, his skill choice gets very dimm... He needs to become a Mage (but than he can't fire his range weapons if he attempts to cast) or he needs to switch the weapon, because Knife Fighter and Weapons Specialist are the only options left (or the gunpowder weapons, but than he can't use Quickshot anymore)...
no skill is realy appealing...
what would you do? | |
