Witch hunters: Wrath of Sigmar

For my first post, excepting my presentation, I have thought that it could be a good thing to show the band I'm painting for my coming back to Mordheim. As it will be my first full painted band (well, I hope so...) I choosed to keep my miniatures choice simple.

Nice painting. Do you try to use NMM on the metal parts?? Or is it just not shiny as we are used to see I find it hard to paint red in a good way but you have managed to shade it well without making it orange or pink And in several different nyances, Nice done

According to me, Klaus miss a thing on his back, like a buckler or a rope, etc... He needs some stuff or heads cut to be a veteran, uh ?

VERY NICE, subdued colors. Klaus is my favorite in the group...the Old Boy has a LOT of personality. Replacing the severed head in Karl's left hand with the SERIOUSLY big mace is a REALLY nice touch. VERY WELL DONE!

@ Trulsa : No NMM, just my usual tabletop process ie basecoat, shading, matt varnish, highlights on the hard edges.

@Lanyssa Ryssyll : So you've escaped from Iron Kingdoms ? Maybe I'll add stuff on Klaus, depending of the campaign. From my first game plyed with proxies he got an helmet, for a start.

@DeafNala: Yes, Klaus is also my favorite one, for the moment. Not a surprise I choose him for my avatar !

Nice looking witch hunters! I too am in favor of the big mace in lieu of severed heads. I'll jump on the bandwagon and vote that Klaus is my favorite of the bunch as well! Starting out simple can be good, maybe start adding heads as your warband starts killing witches!

Just finished Falladryll, my elf scout.

At last I've finished my two flagellants. I have to said that writing the tutorial for them took quite longer than I thought.

I REALLY like the converted elf wizard model! Such a dynamic pose is perfect for an elf ranger, and also, the more "grim" clothing fits Mordheim better than most other elf models. Also, great paintjob, especially the eyes!

GREAT WORK! The exxpressive faces make it for moi. The Fanatics REALLY have a psychopathic look to them...it's the eyes. VERY WELL DONE!

My first two wardogs. I'll have to make some correction on the bases and the picture is a bit on the crappy side, due to poor lighting conditions.

VERY COOL looking War Dogs...a FINE paint job on equally FINE minis. I like tthe one about to go air born. WELL DONE!

3 more wardogs for my witch-hunters. I have to say that I've had some trouble to find a method which, more or less, satisfied me for the dogs' fur. Still 3 minis to go to finish the warband in its present state...

Great choice of models. I will probably be doing Witch Hunters next so I need to know - where do the newest dogs come from? Reaper?

@ Sartori : the latest dogs come from the GW Mordheim range. Don't know though if they are still available...

A date to be remembered, I've finished an heralded project ! With Katrina-Karlotta von Vidocq, my Mordheim witchhunters warband is completed, as it started the campaign we are playing in my club. Presently the warband is one dog less, one hobbit and 2 flagellants more.
Now I've some good ranting to do. Army Painter Matte Varnish could have been named Army Waster Matte Varnish indeed. A quick sight at the following pictures will suffice, and the grainy look isn't some undercoating problem.



I'm a bit fond of this picture but don't know why.


And the whole warband, as I can't take a picture of a completed project every day !

Ooohhh. The warband looks great, but this lady... she's beautiful! I only wonder, how these poor witch hunters can stand that so pretty girl is among them and as Sigmar servants, they cannot... you know what I mean But on the other hand, it can be a test of their faith. Roll 2d6 for Leadership...

Absolutely stunning! Again, nice combination of colours you have used there. I would have not come up with it, it really unifies (is that a word?) and suits this warband really good.

Nice work, bearded snot (not even going to ask about that name!). I like the subdued colors that link them all together. Nice conversion on Karl and the elf wizard/ranger. I like Klaus (I love messing around with the GW plastic empire kits). The torso is a bit small for the legs, which is interesting - but it works (he has strapped on the metal armor over thick leather pants, or something). Reminds me of guys in waders. He has a great face.

Nice job on Katrina, by the way. Her outfit is much more flossy than everyone else's, but you color choices tie her nicely into the group.

I think the Mordheim dogs are out of production. I haven't actually checked, but I have noticed they go for a fair amount on eBay.

The matte sprays are tricky to use. If the temperature is too cool or humidity is too high they will produce that texture, or cloud over completely.

Anyways, really nice warband you've got here. Some day I hope to look at a finished warband of my own.
