A thread or a part of the forum to find minis ?

Perhaps it could be great to make a locked section of the forum with themed photos of minis.
I explain : if someone is searching for cool female pirate minis, he can find a thread with a lot of beautiful minis he can use, it can be the same with dwarves female, nordic minis, or warhounds ! I found quite a lot of people who post on the "Painting and Modeling" just to ask for some ideas of minis, and because most of us know just a few of the ranges avaible, it seems fun to me to share our "treasures".
The goal is not to be exhaustive, but to help, and a locked thread to not allow the discussion on "whooh, it's a beautiful mini !", etc...

Am I completely incoherent ?

I LOVE the idea...how it could be facilitated is another matter. With all the INCREDIBLY COOL stuff coming out, keeping up with things is MORE THAN a fulltime job.

Ahah, I know, when you see all the "female" stuff we found in few days, it's a big part to sort all of this in theme...
But I'm sure we can find a way to do that !

I think it would be more practical to post a question if you are looking for a particular type of mini, and let the forum users make suggestions!

And there's always Colonel Marbles Masterworks on Frothers, for showcases of lots of models by genre. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page)

I think it's way easier to have someone ask for particular miniatures and then point out the stuff you know. There are thousands of miniatures and hundreds of companies, so creating a database worth looking into might be a freaking hell of a lot of work. Imagine having to archive just the 1500 miniatures of Reapers Dark Heaven Legends... plus all the other major companies, and then the small ones with just 10 or so models... and if it's not an exhaustive archive, it's not really all that useful.

However, if some dedicated folks want to try that kind of stuff, I'd suggest simply making a sticky thread in the P&M section linking to the other threads. The "oh, what a beatiful miniature" stuff can either be avoided by just saying that it's not wanted in the thread, or simply be ignored, as people who just care about the miniatures can scroll down quickly and stop at the pics.

Yes, I agree that these threads should only be done when explicitly requested. For recurring requests you can then always point people to the original threads.

Okay, I understand your point of view, and I think that's why a thread like this doesn't exist yet
But it's not easy to find the "old reference thread", and it's quite often the same asks about some special types of minis.

I said it's not exhaustive 'cause I imagine a thread this way.

You know that the pics are just examples, the most beautiful minis to represent that type of mini on these ranges, if you want more, you just have to click and search for more "inspiration".
If you want to find some warhounds, you won't have to search in each stores to know where there's warhounds minis. I found it usefull, and perhaps I'm the only one. I prefer to explain again and be more accurate before you let the idea falling down

This is exactly the idea for my new section of Tabletop Geeks coming soon. It will be a full photo hosting service, but the best part is that you can label minis and people can search through all photos posted if they are looking for cool minis of a specific type.
