Jbfasta's Misc Mini's

Well i thought i'd get the ball rolling and start posting some pics of my minis.
Still waiting for my fantasy and mordheim stuff to get delivered by the movers, along with my camera setup so i apologose for it being not the best of photos.

This is one of my Tau Ethereals.



Will start adding my mordheim stuff to this post as soon as it arrives.

Looks pretty good! The ghostly grey on the skin works for me and the eye looks perfect (which is always difficult).

My only criticism would be that the rocks on which he is standing would benefit from some careful drybrushing with a lighter grey.

Anyways, great mini!

Yep getting the eyes right was a real pain i think i re-did them about 7-8 times before i was satisfied with the result.
I have a bad habit of leaving bases underdone and extremely simple though which i've been tryin to improve on.

I agree on the eyes. I was gonna say they have a real expression... that Tau really looks alive. Great job.

About the base... yeah... I personally think it is fine. I agree with Cianty, that you COULD improve it by adding some more grey, but as you did an extremely neat paitjob, I think it can be left like this.

I would rather (dare to) criticise the white. Again, this is just my 2 cents, and I know how hard it is to get whites right. Whites and Blacks are the most difficult colours to paint realistically. I think your model could have benefited from a tiny bit more contrast on the white... you did the right thing, you went EASY on the shading, which is a must with whites. However, maybe you went a little TOO easy

No big deal though. I think the model is brilliant and I am just splitting hairs

I guess you COULD try to add some shading by CAREFULLY adding a blue-ish wash to the folds of the white robe, but personally I would not recommend it. The minis is nice as it is, and you shouldn't "change a winning team".

VERY WELL DONE! I LOVE the way the eyes turned out; they have an alien feel to them, definitely worth the effort. Your crisp painting style IS very appealing, AND the base is very effective in giving a time/place frame to the mini. You ARE VERY TALENTED & a nice addition to our little community.

The skin tones are amazing! Your blending technique is very good. Add that last push to the base... it would only enhance the model!

Wow! That face is superb! I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of your stuff. (Did I ever tell you about that time someone dissapointed me? I knee-capped him, actually, really nice bloke too...,)

@Chad, I will try not to disappoint. I like the one good kneecap i have left.

@Tom, The white shading i did deliberately light as i was aiming for a clean pristine look to it.

VERY COOL STUFF! I REALLY like your choice of colors & your crisp, clean style of painting. I'd LOVE to see your take on the Kroots. Keep posting; all the drooling is keeping my keyboard clean .

Seriously cool! You are truly the master of shading! Also, it's great to see some Tau in something approaching a realistic camo-scheme.
