1. does anyone know a cheap way to strip metals?

2. does anyone have around 3 horse tails i can get?

1. A product called Simple Green works well, and is reasonably priced for the volume you get. Alternatively, for metal, brake fluid is also reputed to work - never tried it myself though.

I use an ammonia based household cleaner; Parson's to be specific, although a Windex style cleaner works as well. Just soak for awhile & scrub a bit. Caveat: the ammonia will ALSO soften Crazy Glue; SO...expect the mini to come apart.

SORRY, I can't help you with the tails; I ALWAYS have more horses than tails. The tails disappear into some alternate reality usually reserved for missing socks.

Brake fluid works, but it's slow and messy. If anything it should only be used with plastics, which would get damaged from other "stripping" agents.

For metals I like to use "mordant" like the one used to strip paint/varnish off furniture. Extremely effective and super-fast (a little messy, but not too bad). Should be easy to find in any hardware/paint store.

Alternatively acetone works, but not as thoroughly. You will need to do some more brushing with an old toothbrush to get the paint off.

Overall stripping minis is something that can be done at relatively low cost and quite effectively.

I'll point Tewfik here for the tails. He's got a Bretonnian army and I swear I always see tails laying around.

I can offer some wood elf steed tails... got quite a few left over from my conversions of wild riders where i chopped off the tails.

i use locktite glue.
