| As i am starting up Dwarfs i am interested in what i can hire
At max i can hire 4 heros from my list, and then what!?
Troll slayers i can hire more, and annoyingly they cost half the warband one does lol
I have an ogre bodyguard i may add but what else?
Due to the fact that we will be using mounted rules sometime, if my friend ever gets his heros mounted it will be alot of trouble so i need something spiffy!

| Hey Barden, I checked Ian Davies article in Fanatic #10, as a Veteran Dwarf player I figure he should have some useful insight. His recommendations were, for a bit of speed, the Tilean Marksman, the Ogre Body Guard, & the Freelance Knight. I hope that provides some help. As a Goblin Guy, I'd recommend igoring this advice. | |

| Well, the last thing I played was a Dwarf Slayer Warband rather than Treasure Hunters, but to me, Hired Swords that help offset the slow pace of the Dwarves is a good idea, if anything, solely for the sack of scenarios with objectives. For an Ogre Bodyguard, I'd wait till you get a 'Returning the Favor', which saves you the hiring cost.
Freelancer- this gets tricky, as the Freelancer came out before the Dwarf Warband did, so I don't know if you can get one or not.
Another suggestion is to a buy Wardog. He'll run in front of your horde and run interference on any opposing heroes that Spring and Leap into range of your closest Warpstone shard. He won't be strong enough to last long, but he'll cost them the Run/Sprint move, and maybe delay them a turn or two.

| Well, on the Free Lancer: it was recommended by the esteemed Ian Davies, who is on the Rules Reveiw thingy; SO...I guess its okay/legal to have one with the Dwarfs. It WAS, however, recommended ONLY if you were using the mounted rules AND with a caveat about getting isolated. | |

| I COULD be wrong [it's a specialty with moi ], but I believe you Engineer can ONLY increase the range of DWARF weapons. The Tilean Marksman DOES have the Steady Hands [ignores "to hit" modifiers for long range] & Dead Eye Shot [ignores 'to hit" modifiers for cover], so, even without the additional range, he'd be a good choice as a hired sword for the Vertically Challenged Ones. | |
