The Borc
(Read Special Rules)

…no one knows how it happened exactly…but…it did! Some say he came from an ancient tribe of savages and some say he’s an exiled creature from an orcish tribe, punished for his fathers’ doing.

The Borc is a simple minded creature who will do anything for food and “shiny irun” (his reference to money). Living in cave close to the ruined city of Mordheim, he encounters countless numbers of travellers each day…some die…some live. He even helps some with their quests…for a fee of course.

May be Hired: All war bands can recruit the Borc except for Orcs and Goblin warbands. (they kicked him out so why fight for them)

Rating: The Borc increases a warband’s rating by 100 points.

Special Rules:

Recruiting the Borc: In order to add the Borc to your warband you need to take a test. He doesn’t join a warband just like that. You are risking of losing some members from your warband before the game actually starts!

Here is how it goes. The Borc fights for your warband if you agree to pay him 100 Shiny Irun (Gold Crowns) and give him some food, generally meat (another 50 Gold Crowns). Still it’s not that easy! The Borc is a stupid yet cunning creature. After you pay his fee you need to take the following test to see if he either
• Joins your warband
• Joins for a period of time
• Fights you
On a roll of 1-3 he joins your warband. On a roll of 4-5 he joins for a period of time*. On a roll of 6 he takes the gold and food and fights you**!

*on every turn take a leadership test. If you fail he stays (he is afraid you might attack him) if you succeed he makes a run for it and runs towards your nearest model hits him (Str 4 hit) and runs away (if the model lives he can fight back only once, after that the Borc continues running). If your model manages to kill the Borc, the gold given to him is returned to your treasury.

**the Borc isn’t happy with what you’ve given him and decides to fight your warband. the opposing player controls the Borc and the fight is done just before the game starts.

Note: this has to be done each time you recruit the Borc just before the game starts.

Animosity: The Borc suffers from animosity. He’s half-orc you know!

Hatred: The Borc has hatred towards Orcs for exiling him from their race.

Weapons/Armour: the Borc wears Heavy armour, 2 crude swords known at the Hell Choppas and a Long Bow.

Hell Choppas: The Borc carries 2 swords known as the Hell Choppas. These are 2 crudely crafted swords which don’t slice though an enemy, but skewers through. They add +1 to his Strength and cause a Critical hit on a 5-6 roll.

Skills: Mighty Blow, Pit Fighter, Fearsome, Combat Master, Quick Shot.

Profile: M=8 WS=5 BS=4 S=4 T=5 W=2 A=2 Ld=7

Feel free to criticize and point out mistakes. tbh i think he's a bit underpowered for his price.

Cheers
Hellfoot

well i wanted him to have a bow because mythologically speaking Laughing centaurs carry bows and are expert huntsmen...so i wanted this guy to be the same.

as for his charesteristics and skills...do you think he's underpowered for his price?

Well, difficult question.
First, you don't pay that much (150gc for a game- there are other characters who cost more and regarding his skills and stats), but in 50% of the games he won't fight for you a long time.

Some improvement suggestion:
Less Weapon-skill(3 or 4) - this makes him a little weaker, but it's also fluffy(hate that word but whatever... Rolling Eyes ), a marauding and as I can imagine often drunken orc-mutant isn't that skillful in combat.
His extremly high strength(6) and the critical hit on a 5+ are brutal enough Wink

Also, the Movement should be a little lower(he can charge 24" Twisted Evil )
I would suggest 6", so it's still 18"

Centaurs- you got a point there, but I still think an orc sniper-centaur is some how strange Laughing

the 50% possibility of not playing is part of why he is so strong in combat. hes very good to even up the odds against another dramatis personae. also good for late entries (if someone sends them the gold ofc).

(thats the point of the Borc)

I agree with Erk.

I suggest you change the longbow to a short-bow. Maybe strength 3 (4) will do instead of 4 (5).

I think the movement is OK (normal boar movement) , but remove the sprint skill (19").

Apart from that I think it's time to do some playtesting Very Happy

Good job Hellfoot.

@ Erkwin: What's wrong with "fluff"? Very Happy

yea i know his strength is a bit too much but as i said hes isnt just a simple recruit...theres a whole test you need to take before recruiting him and may have a bad result. i think he is even less powerful then veskit. ill lower it anyway cause i forgot about the choppas for a bit xD as soon as we have our next game ill test him.

Cheers

Maybe I'll do some play-testing too, at the local shop are right now a few people who might be interested in stuff like that.

@"fluff":
I hate it because it is used so often in German...
"Das ist vom Fluff her eine recht schöne Liste, schön fluffig..." Mad
We got our own word for "Fluff", but why using it when we have this wonderful word "Fluff"? Rolling Eyes Wink

I think Hintergrund is the word. "Fluff" is mostly used to describe the army's personal background, or you say "fluffig" when it fits the background.

Just a question of fancy, and I don't like it Wink
