| Hmm overall things seem to be in order, but I have to say that you should try thinning your paints a bit. On some parts it just looks too thick. Also I think it would look lean mean if you'd put some black wash on the checker patterned guy's coat to really bring out the details. Keep up the good work | |

Thanxs... i am not that experienced "yet"! So any comment is welcome. It's been 7 years since my last paintjob... so i am just glad with what i was still able to achieve. But i need to improve on shades / washes / Drybrushing etc... But i am working on it!

I think you should give the new citadel washes a go. They're really good. Not as runny & messy as the old ones and when they dry it's not glossy.

| I agree with the Kaptain! ( Aye, aye Sir!) Try one technique at a time. First, do the wash. You have a perfect candidate with the checkered robes! The model is good... do NOT take me wrong! Adding the wash will take it to a NEW level of greatness! Why? Well, if you look at the robe, you will notice that all the black squares are disconnected from each other, while the red ones are linked together. Sure, from a distance you see it as a 'loose' checker pattern... but it seems 'odd'. I would suggest a 'brown' or 'sepia' wash, rather than a 'black' one (Sorry... don't know the names GW uses!) The wash will go to the crevices and create a dark-brown line that will link the black squared and separate the red squares. Since brown is a shade between red and black, the lines will look transitional. You could use the same wash over the shoes and the face/hands. You may want to wash with black the helmet and sword. After the wash dries, you may want to practice dry-brushing. Take brown and dry-brush the shoes... they will become 'real' in front of your eyes! Then dry-brush 'flesh' over the face/hands... suddenly you will see check-bones and knuckles! Dry-brush the helmet and sword with boltgun metal... the items will gain new definitions. Very fast and easy! Finally, you may want to try highlighting... with the red squares! The red squares are going to look a little dark (because of the wash), so you take plain 'red' and paint a thin line on right and bottom sides of each red square, as close as the edge of the square as possible (do not go over!) The take orange and paint a super thin line over the red line you painted before... maybe just over the lower-right corner of the square. You may want to highlight the helmet and sword with a thin line of mithril silver. The final touch should be basin... it takes ANY model from 'ok' to WOW!!! in 3 seconds flat! It seems like a lot of work, but once you get the hang of it you will be impressed! Please... do not get me wrong. Your models are very good... especially for being WiP and you coming from a 7 year hibernation! Good luck... and keep us posted! | |

| Looking good so far, and as Mordheimer said if you want to try a few washes or drybrushing I think the guy with the checkered coat is a perfect candidate!
I'm a fan of your model selection as well! I like seeing some of those old models being revived and coming back to the table. Can't wait to see how your knights on foot turn out, what are you using for their legs?

Can't wait to see how your knights on foot turn out, what are you using for their legs? Yeah i got a big collection unpainted Bretonnians and Wood Elves. So keep coming back to see more Well i am converting the checkered one at the moment. He will get a big flag instead of just the pole. I am going to use the men-at-arms command group body's. And cut them up a little bit Then use the old knight of the realms (plastic's) for knight of the realm on foot and knight errants. Then use the new Questing Knights upper body's and also the men-at-arms foots. But if u have an other idea it would be welcome, cause this way i will have to use the same 3 body's for all knights. If i manage to find enough

| I am working on a Questing knight at the moment. Trying to use more shades and drybrushing... so it's not about the model... it's quite boring how he looks! Will be posted any day now! | |

| Hahaha, LOVE the Black Knight. Just needs the Green Knight to go up against him...
That's a great idea, using the knight's upper bodies on the men-at-arms' legs. Is there any reason why you couldn't use legs from the rest of the men-at-arms for more variety and ease of collecting?

Uhm... well i might use some for the errants... but they lack armor on the legs... so i think there less perfect... but i'll start on the realm and questing ones... errants i save for last

As you can probably tell I'm not very familiar with the Bretonnian models. If you're confident with your GS skills then you could perhaps add some plate armor to the legs of the other men-at-arms' legs, but that may prove to be difficult.
