| Week Thirteen--Unlucky 13WarbandsChris--Witch Hunters Jim S--Guhtani (Relics of the Crusades) Jim L--Undead Kevin--Marienburgers The Lost PrinceThe Undead race the Witch Hunters to the Prince Undead win the race... "Come vit us, my son..." The Undead got a little strung out in the darkness. The Prince didn't get far. The Witch Hunter shooters got just close enough to feather him with blunted crossbow bolts so that the vampires couldn't carry the Prince off. Eventually enough ghouls went down to convince the Undead to flee. It is possible that no one died. The Witch Hunters got rich. | |

| Interestingly one vampire suffered a lost hand a couple of weeks ago... Of course the handless vampire is NOT that vampire. The vampire without a hand is the possessed vampire who has magnetized arms for changing equipment. What he doesn't have is empty hands to represent the possessed version. ___________________________________________________________________________________ The CaravanAn Arabian variant of Mule Train. The Marienburers ambushed the Ghutani caravan. First blood! A camel is killed. Al Bobo and the flagellants attack the ogre as camels run wild! The Marienburgers fled with eight models ooa. The ogre may have died. The Ghutani's Slaver, who had been reported killed earlier, actually died in this battle. He was surrounded by a mob of warriors who had hidden in some rocks... The Ghutani ended up at an oasis. The Marienburgers finally were able to retreat to Al-Haikk. | |

Ha! That would be no. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Week Thriteen plus One--The City of the DeadPlayers and WarbandsChris--Witch Hunters Jim S--Guhtani (Relics of the Crusades) Jim L--Undead Kevin--Marienburgers We had the usual suspects for the last couple of weeks attending. The Guardians The Witch Hunters get to chose the scenario... They also encountered a trapped Crimashin Assassin as they explored the tomb. The battlefield The Ghutani elect not to light their torch... falling down in the dark ensues. The Ghutani win the race to the tomb. This is not really a good thing. The Witch Hunters wait and see. Two Ushabti appear! (The hidden markers represent treasures). Things go poorly for the Faithful... The victorious Witch Hunters... The Ghutani fled with four out of action and two warriors helpless before unbeliever blades. A Ghutani flagellant dies. The Ghutani find an oasis and trade with a caravan. A Lamp of the Djinn is purchased. (The Witch Hunters finally lost theirs...) The Witch Hunters take no casualties at all. The fabulous treasure is not very fabulous, however, as most of the items they captured fell to dust when removed from the tomb. Defend the TombThe Marienburgers try to escape with the treasure. (Defend the Tomb is not about, well, defending a tomb. Instead you race for an exit... Kevin did not buy a torch... The Mary Anns in the darkness Undead close in Because we always roll the same event for each separate game, a trapped Crimishin Assassin is found by the Mary Anns. There is much discussion about freeing him. He's free! And the undead arrive... The part of the Crimashin is played by a dark elf, because assassin. Later he is replaced by an arabian, because Arabia. Maneuvering. The Undead travel fast. Deadly combats in the dark tunnels. The treasure gets this far... - Jim L aka playtable wrote:

| Thanks Al. It was mainly trying to get Kevin's photos on Mr. L's computer. Sort of works now. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Week Fifteen--Woe unto SomePlayers and Warbands Bob--Tomb Guardians (Original Khemri website) Chad--Possessed Chris--Witch Hunters Jim S--Guhtani (Relics of the Crusades) Jim L--Undead Kevin--Marienburgers ALL SIX REMAINING PLAYERS CAME TO GAME NIGHT! It was a red letter day, but not lucky for some. With the usual random perversity, we rolled the same scenarios as last week (including most of the same players playing the same scenarios...) The Guardians or the Doom of Count ValtenThe Undead, Ghutani and Witch Hunters Last week we had set up the Guardians scenario for three players when Kevin arrived. This week the same three players set up again... The Witch Hunters are stalked by the ghoul pack. The vampires boldly enter the Treasure Chamber. The Ghutani are surrounded by traps (yellow counters). Guardians! Six skeletons, two tomb guards and the mummy lord! (several skeletons are already destroyed by the lighting reflex vampires). Fewer Guardians, but Valten has foolishly charged into the tomb guards and mummy lord... The ghoul pack, dregs and necromancer 'catch' their 'victims'. Or enter the spider's lair... either way it goes badly. Drenok Johansen charges Valten as the guardians dwindle. (The Witch Huters keep rescuing Drenok from crucifixion. The great barbarian is much reduced) Valten is killed by Haroum the Wanderer, who fired his blunderbuss into the melee by the north entrance. The Undead beging to wail and flee as soon as possible. The wailing increases in volume as Valten's fate becomes known. After the undead flee the Ghutani occupy the vault. The Mad Djinn Binder blocks the southern entrance to the vault... Finally he comes to his senses! The Ghutani concentrated on removing treasures from the vault while holding the Witch Hunters at bay. Naturally all the heroes except the Djinn Binder and Babiars grabbed treasure while henchmen and hired swords started to die. The Ghutani fled when the Djinn Binder fell at the east door. The Undead lose Count Valten. The second vampire killed by the Ghutani. (Sadly the first has not stayed dead...and with the number of Monkey's Paws in play neither might the second, but you do what you can.) Other warriors may have died, but their passing is eclipsed by the lamentations over Valten's demise. To add insult to injury the Paw steals 30 dinars from the Buy a New Vampire Fund. The Ghutani lose Belwas the Fat, a veteran flagellant and the Holy Man of Ghut (who was killed by the pesky Witch Hunter Captain.) The Djinn Binder gains Horrible Scars. The Ghutani recover a sword and heavy armor from the vault and trade with the Cheating Merchant. The Witch Hunters lose two flagellants and maybe a hired sword (I hope). All of the treasure the Witch Hunters recover turns to dust outside of the tomb (except the dinars). Despite their victory the Heretics are lost in the desert! More adventures to come... | |

| Thank you. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Defend the TombA race between the Possessed, the Mary Anns and a giant scorpion. Kevin bought a torch this week. Chad didn't. Chad's only model that can see in the dark is Stupid. The Mary Anns running away fast. Slow Kult. Cult fall down. The scorpion catches the Kult of the Possessed! The Mad Possessed (as opposed to the cult) almost catches the Mary Anns. But stupid. The Mary Anns easily out pace the Cult. They gain underdog bonus, gold and other stuff (including a Monkey's Paw). The Kult made no report of their adventures in the dark... _________________________________________________________________________________ A Skirmish in the DarkThe Return of the Mummies! No photos, 'cause Valten was dead. The Mary Anns beat on the Tomb Guardians. Another Ogre and Pit Fighter die for the Mummys' cause. The Monkey's Paw increases the Tomb Guardians by +1 henchman (skeleton). The dark side roll was...well I forget. Dark, it was dark. The Mary Anns will roll for their Monkey's Paw before the next game...really. Next week is a holiday, so see ya in a couple of weeks. | |

| Week Sixteen--The LostPlayers and WarbandsChris--Witch Hunters Jim S--Guhtani (Relics of the Crusades) Jim L--Undead Kevin--Marienburgers The Treasures of NekharaA dungeon variant Wyrdstone HuntSince only four of us made game night poor Mr L had to play the warband that had killed Valten the Vampire. The Undead tried the old take the treasure and run ploy, with ghouls and zombies as speed bumps... Orange counters are treasure, brown and black are traps. Its dark and ghouls and dregs fell down a lot. Al Bobo (with torch, or at least fire counter) bursts in to the center chambers as the Possessed Vampire (he has a name, but I can't remember it) grabs the third treasure counter. A living denizen of the dungeon annoys Mr L. The Ghutani close in, but will never catch the treasure carriers. See how far the Possessed Vampire has gotten already? Also fewer ghouls... The Undead grab three treasures (out of four) and flee. 2 zombies and 2 ghouls die attempting to slow the Ghutani down. The Undead make lots of money but become lost in the City of the Dead and can not trade. Much wailing and complaining ensue. The Ghutani get the fewest treasures, but no one is even injured by the poor speed bumps. The tribe returns to Al Haikk to spend lots of gold. | |

| Ain't those fun? They haven't gotten out in awhile, I hope they make it again this week. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Tomb RaidThe Marienburgers and the Witch Hunters race to steal a treasure from a tomb The Witch Hunters get there first... Marienburgers move through the trapped hall... Guardians try to stop the Witch Hunters from looting. The Guardians slow the Witch Hunters just enough. One of the hero flagellants fights the Mary Anns. The Witch Hunters fled! One of the hero flagellants is captured! He is ransomed for 48 dinars. The Witch Hunters are STILL lost in the desert (or in this case lost in the tombs). The victorious Mary Anns get very little for their pains as the Tomb Raid treasure is kind of lame. Still the Monkey's Paw re-animates Valten the Vampire who staggers out of the desert night to join the Mary Anns (+70 something in warband rating!) The being formerly known as Valten the Vampire is possessed by a deamon rather than returning as a vampire... So Valten the Possessed. The Mary Anns are no longer a 'good' warband... The Mary Anns trade with the cheating merchant. | |

| Hey just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the campaign! Are you using any sort of custom rules? I notice your vampire became possessed? Same thing happened to one of our Averlanders (guy on the left). How do you deal with it? I added +1 to WS, S T W, I A and Ld. Plus losing the ability to fight with weapons and causing fear. | |

Thank you, I have really enjoyed reading your campaign blog as well. Yes we are using a ton of custom rules. (Which I hear plenty of feedback on occasionally from the players...) The rules for possession can be found (with a bit of scrolling) in this thread (because the possession is dependent on the Monkey's Paw)-- https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t6250p25-the-arabian-merchant-problemAt present we are using similar rules as you except its +1 to WS, S, T, I and A. Even that is a bit much for a vampire with +70 exp. I thought it would be a cool thing to happen to humans or orcs. Naturally in this campaign it happens to vampires and, um, Possessed (which I ruled were already Possessed so they gained nothing.) Its still creating a good story for us. I am thinking of changing the possession to fear, fight without weapons, no armor +1A and a random mutation. - Quote :
- The Guardians are really snazzy minis.
Thanks Al, they are Reaper minis (although my Reaper search foo is weak so I can't tell you which ones). If you look back at earlier Arabian campaign threads you will see them without paint or just primed. I painted them finally. Makes a world of difference. | |

| Week Seventeen--The Tomb of Thoth Amon and The Temple of Doom!Players and WarbandsChad--Possessed Chris--Witch Hunters Jim S--Guhtani (Relics of the Crusades) Jim L--Undead Kevin--Marienburgers The end is nigh. This week Kevin and I got to choose our scenarios. The Temple of Doom! The Witch Hunters, the Undead and the Ghutani The Witch Hunters fell afoul of traps and darkness. The Ghutani had a torch, but still found pitfalls along the way (get it? pitfalls?) Even Bella, the Possessed Vampire, had trouble with the pits. The Undead reached the temple chamber first, because of Bella. They left as soon as possible becasue of the Witch Hunters and Ghutani, who proceeded to beat on each other. The Witch Hunters have been lost in the desert for two weeks and are much reduced (but still 45 higher in rating than the other warbands). So the beating happens to them. The Witch Hunters flee. The Undead were thinking of coming back, but reconsider... The Undead carry away one treasure. The Witch Hunters suffered 2 losses from Guardian Spirits and then the Ghutani happened. (The Ghutani seem good when their opponents can't buy replacements.) A flagellant and zealot die. The Heretics find a friendly tribe of Nomads and trade for the first time in two weeks. The Undead suffer no permanent losses, though Pin Haid (or someone like him) will miss the rest of the campaign with a deep wound. The Undead find a heretic camp full of chaos worshipers (with whom they fit right in). The Undead are allowed to cash in their extensive treasure with a 25% discount. The Ghutani suffer no losses. They kill an antelope for dinner and count as one size smaller for income purposes. The Ghutani gained 2 extra treasures (count as wyrdstone) and the Major Artifact, the Asp Bow. The Ghutani retire to Al Haikk to trade. Next--The Raid on Thoth Amon's Tomb... | |
