| Hi all, I've been lurking on this forum for several months now, allowing myself to be inspired by some wonderful models and scenery. Last weekend, I've decided to join this nice and active community and show some of my work for your expert scrutiny. I wanted to create a dark and sinister looking Witch Hunter warband who use the powers of chaos in order to defeat chaos. A radical bunch who use questionable methods. The corrupt and crazed preacher Marius Brenner tainted Kurt Hellbrecht, a tough, veteran witch hunter captain into using these methods. My apologies in advance, both for my English, which has been a bit rusty the last few years and also apologies for the poor quality of some of the pictures. Enough talk, it's picture time! Here is the preacher Marius Brenner with his posse of fanatical flaggelants. Comments, critique and questons are all very welcome. Thanks for watching. BigD

| You've captured the dark side of the Witch Hunters quite nicely. Your brushwork is TERRIFIC...I love the freehand work on the books & scrolls. Considering my own attempts at photography, I can't be critical. VERY WELL DONE! | |

| I really like the theme and the use of the flagellants. Have you altered the rules for Witch Hunters as well? | |

| Those look very good! The skin is well shaded and you've achieved impressive colour depth overall. You should get to know the macro function on your camera a bit better though... | |

| Thanks for alll the positive feedback! Nice to see such warm response. Your feedback works like a charm on my motivation to paint. - Von Kurst wrote:

Nope, I use the Witch Hunter rules from the Mordheim rulebook. My alterations (if you can refer to them as such) are model-wise (converions) and fluff-wise (Witch Hunters using the powers of chaos to hunt down heretics). - folketsfiende wrote:

Yeah, I know. I've used the camera on my mobile. I used to have a camera with good macro, but a rough travel to New Zealand destroyed it. - skipspence wrote:

No worries, you will get more. Pictures of Kurt Hellbrecht himself will follow soon (either tomorrow or after my holiday). I indeed did the book and scroll with a fine detail brush, using brown wash mainly (brown gives it a faded look, black looks to 'harsh' and 'fresh' for parchment) and in some instances a watered down chaos black or blood red, actually. By placing small dots and stripes next to each other, you can create the illusion of writing. My dwarf crushing leaves a lot to be desired, lately. In the beginning of the campaign, I was eating them for breakfast, but as the campaing progressess, it is my ass that gets kicked. Actually, the preacher on the pictures shown, has already died and is in the process of being replaced by a more pious warrior priest. But yeah, in hte beginning, I had a numerical advantage over the dwarves, but they got batter and in one post-battle phase, they rolled 'the lad got's talent' twice, giving them the maximum of six heroes. After that, it all went downhill for me. Only recently I managed to get some victories and minimise my casualties. BigD

| Excellent brush skills. The application of the colors on the miniatures were done very neatly. Like everyone who posted, I am eager to see more...
Great job! | |

There will be dogs, but first, the hunters! Here's the man himself, my witch hunter captain Kurt Hellbrecht. Fluffwise, he has been corrupted by the preacher Brenner, who convinced him to use the powers of chaos to battle chaos. Hence is macabre trophies, the chaos sword bearing arcane and glowing writings, taken from one of his victims and a disturbing familiar (inspired by the Baroque painter Bosch, but mainly an easy way of giving him a helmet, making the model more ore les 'What You See Is What You Get' ) Here are two of his fanatical hunters, Dante and Nietsche. Nietsche is blind, but has a visual ade in the shape of a bird with a man's face (see no evil) and Dante has his mouth sewn shut (say no evil). Comments and critique are very welcome. Thanks for watching! BigD

| Again: Really nice kitbashing The captain is epic to say the least! The bird with the human head is extremely Mordheimy and reminds me of the first time i looked through the rulebook, and was fascinated by the weird artwork | |

With the current plastics, it's very easy to do. The bird with human head is (as well as the captain's familiar) inspired by the painter Bosch. And I think the Mordheim artwork also looked closely at Baroque painters for inspiration. But yeah, I really like the Mordheim artwork. BigD

| You've just blown me away! These are fantastic minis indeed. I was messing around with a witch hunter warband with my limit bits of militia and flagellants but blimey, I think my witch hunters will have to hide away in awe of these! | |

| Shame about the photos. These miniatures seem to deserve the full glory of high definition! Just to say that your creations ooze a great Mordheimish feel. Love them! Joao | |

| Looks very promising, however, the picture quality aint top.
The first picture is quite OK, the others seems to be out of focus. With better lighting, increased distance to get the models in focus and autolevel adjustment in photoshop or similar would no doubt make the pictures clearer, until you get your hands on a camera better than that of your phone.
Anyhow, great bitzbashing. Cant comment to much on the painting with this blurry pictures. Would be cool to see the details in a clear photo, I'm especially eager to see the scroll writings.

| Hellbrecht & Friend are really cool...evil but cool nonetheless. Even with the less than crystal clear photos the high standard of the brushwork & basing come across. VERY WELL DONE! | |

| Thanks for watching and for the wonderful response! @ JoaoS / Silver / Maxxev: I know the quality of the pictures is a bit crappy, I'm using the camera on my mobile. Last year, the screen of my camera was crushed in a bag and I haven't replaced the camera. I don't feel that much for buying a new one at the moment. I prefer to spend my money on models and paint. @ Silver: I'll try to get some better pictures of the scroll writngs. @ JoaoS / DeafNala / Spectre76: The artwork in the Mordheim book is one of my mayor inspirations. I think the artwork in that book is fantastic. Saying my models have a felling similar to that artwork is something I'm strifing for and a great compliment for me! So thankts for that! More pictures will follow, somewhere in the coming week. I still have some dogs that I want to show and some newly painted Witch Hunters. BigD | |
