Glad you enjoyed it, time for part two!
Game Two:
Wyrdstone CollectionMark rolled for 4 counters which we placed evenly around the central piece of terrain. We swapped deployment ares around and mixed the terrain up a bit and set to it again. I made some clever Wyrdstone counters by ripping up squares of paper, I know, I know, I'm so inventive.
I got the first turn and split my forces between the two nearest counters.
I was only starting with 6 guys so the plan was to grab the objectives and hide whilst the others beat each other up a bit.
Cowardly Andrew took shelter in a
tower and behind his favourite bookcase:
Mark and Andrew picked up a
Wyrdstone counter each and Mark moved the majority of his frighteningly big (rich bloody Marienburgers and their 5000 henchmen) towards my, now quaking,
Captain and Youngblood on my left flank.
My Captain heroically climbed into some ruins to get a nice vantage point in order to shoot the oncoming masses
He was immediately assaulted by four large blokes with sharp axes and killed whilst my poor young blood
scarpered with his precious treasure...
Mark and Andrew clashed in the middle (as I had planned it mwahahaha) and my three marksmen continued to take pot shots at both sides from a, relatively, safe distance.
Mark eventually dealt with Andrew, who routed with only two bowmen left in his tower, and proceeded to advance towards me. I had two counters and so did he. The winnner would be whoever could hold on longest without routing. I had already lost my Captain so any more casualties (remember I only started with 6 guys) would have resulted in rout tests. My Champion had sprinted across from the right flank with his Wyrdstone to avoid Andrew's warband and was now perfectly situated to give my retreating youngblood fire support. The pair ran circles around a piece of impassable terrain for a couple of turns.
At this point I was relying on
Mark's Leader and two champions with some henchmen NOT killing any of my three marksmen. I had about three turns of shooting at them before I was charged but I didn't hit with a single shot...
I was charged, I thought that was it. Luckily I seemed to only be repeatedly pushed to the ground and not killed! Eventually one of my marksmen stood up for long enough to land a blow on a warrior, killing him and bringing Mark within one casualty of having to roll for a rout.
I made a mistake with my movement that left my Champion out of charge range from any of Mark's four Henchmen on the left flank. My youngblood was exposed, grimly clutching his wyrdstone and with his back against the wall.
Like the true Middenheimer he is I charge him into the nearest henchman. Both attacks hit and I killed the bugger!
I couldn't believe it, I had Mark on the ropes.
His turn came around and he rolled an 11 for his Ld test! I had won. Two wyrdstone counters only one casualty and a heroic final fight!
and so ends the story of why that particular model got a nice paint job from uncle Adam.
I hope you guys enjoyed that as much as I did writing and playing it.
cheers
Adam
