folketsfiendes Norse warband (New pics 101130)

Painted these for a friend, but I'm planning to play them myself sometime. Seems like a nice warband. Comprised of GW, Reaper and Red Box minis.

Indeed, the Minis selection is great! I'd love to have some of those, maybe fore a middenheim warband. And it would be nice if you could show us some pictures of your gameboard, it does look like it's fun to play on!

Actually, my gameboard is not a gameboard. I've got a GW gaming mat (grass green) and a bunch of cardboard buildings and a whole lot of ESLO scenery (woods, rivers, houses, ruins and such). So, I'm happy but poor. I'll try to remember to take some pics next we play though!

well at least show us the buildings mate! I need to steal ideas! I'm working on my own scenery you see .. and when I'm done with that I'll be working on the gameboard as well.

So, I bought some Foundry minis, and decided to paint an all female Norse warband, just to spite the stupid fluff that only the Norse men would pick up weapons and go raiding. As stated, a whole lot of Foundry stuff, with some Celtos thrown in as well. WARNING! CONTAINS MINIATURE NUDITY!

(EDIT: Apparently someone at Photobucket found the rear view of the berserkers to be a violation of their rules. So, I censored their behinds, in the hope that this version will not be found offensive. I take this as an assertment of the lifelikeness of my painting! It kind of boggles my mind though, why they didn't object to the frontal nudity pic...)

That explains the Flight of the Valkeries booming around my head as I looked at the Norse Babe Band...COOL STUFF! It's nice to see some Celtos Chicks have made it into Mordheim. VERY IMAGINATIVE & WELL DONE!

Yes, the nudity of female (and/or male models, IMO) continues to be an issue. I myself am not entirely convinced that they are totally OK. Being PC is more than an abstract principle for me. Nude minis can be justified, I believe, as long as they're not demeaning. Obviously, all miniature painting is objectifying, whether or not the minis are nude. Hopefully, mine stay on the right side of general good morals... Plus: the idea of crazed naked women wielding flails and rushing into the fray seemed appealing. I guess I need therapy.

The moose helmet is original! It's really a fun touch. Though it must be even more of a problem wearing that thing than running around topless during the battle...

When it comes to painting gems I just follow the method from the old High Elves armybook. It's a good guide!

COOL mix of minis! While the Babes are really sharp pieces, I LOVE the two that fall into the "Fat Lady Sings" category. VERY WELL DONE!

Some replacement minis. Didn't quite like one of the berserkers, and wanted to get a different wulfen mini.

Good choice using that figure as wulfen. Nice model and nicely painted one too.
Just as the whole all-female warband.

Nice updates. The sword of the naked lady could maybe benefit from cleaner edges (i e the facets that don't have that runic spiral thingy on it). BTW, I think the one to the right is a foxwoman, so... foxy lady?

Well, I kinda like the gritty feel of the sword as it is. Svava doesn't strike me as the kind of fighter who takes meticulous care of her gear (even though she hasn't got that much to start with).

The lady is indeed some sort of werefox, hence the colour scheme. Is she foxy though? Well, I guess that depends on your view on vicious humanoid beasts wielding ripped off arms.
