Hi

On The Mordheim Rules Review on the 'Stuff for Later' section says,

Code:
The Surprise Attack scenario was another one that needed playtesting to change as although we all agreed it needed work, we couldn’t get any sort of consensus on what should be done.

Do you guys think that this scenario is unbalanced?
Somebody at my club told me that GW changed the status of this scenario to unnoficial, but I can't find this information anywhere.

Thanks!

I think the person at your store was interpreting the above quote to mean that it is now unofficial, which i believe is not the intention. That same paragraph also states that models wielding two clubs are overpowered compared to a model using a shield but no solution is proposed. Using your friend's logic, that weapon combination is unofficial as well, which is just silly!

All i can say is play the scenario; if it feels unbalanced don't play it again, if you don't notice anything wrong with it, forget about that quote and continue playing!

Edited for clarity

Surprise Attack--
I would vote balanced. I've seen both sides (Attacker or Defender) win the scenario. I've never noticed that one wins more than the other. Its a chance for the lower rated warband to get some back, but if you don't hurt the Big Dog early, he kill you dead. Woof!

As for the official/unofficial argument. your friend is basing his conclusion on faulty reasoning.

It is official, this was meant to be discussed but that was many moons ago. Unfortunately, I am always been on the receiving end of the surprise attack and for some reason I never got any presents.

As noted by others, It is still official and will more than like not be looked at again. I think each gaming group can modify as they see fit.
