Ironskars Warbands at Cross Swords

Hi all,

After a bit of a break and moving location I have been playing almost weekly at the local wargames club of Cross Swords in Devon, UK where there is an excellent group of players (most of the time anyway). We normally play large multi-player games (3 to 5 players), the games can be quite verbal with plenty of back stabbing and broken alliances! All the warbands below have been played and had their own adventures less the Witch Hunters and Sisters. The Sisters will probably be my next gang, my current gang is the Possessed.

Admin, if this is in the working place please move it, I was unsure if it should be here or painting and modelling.

Disciples of the Shadowlord - Cult of the Possessed.

Magister - Deacon Blue       Warband Rating - 183
Magister is nothing special, he can fly and tried his first game armed with a spear and sword but was quickly laughed at and reminded to check the errata. Claw a possessed managed to pick up the injury that gives him frenzy, with 3 attacks and strength 5 he is a bit tasty. Glob the other possessed has gone the other way with toughness 6 and 3 wounds. Also have a darksoul and brethren as hero's, the darksoul is shaping up nicely with expert swordsman, twin swords, WS 3 and A2. Both Beastmen are solid, A2, Sword, mace, Light Armour and Sh, 13 Exp each. 2 further brethren means a gang of 10.

Chapel of the Black Rose - Sisters.

Not played yet. Rating of 99. Matriarch, 3 Superiors, Auger and 4 Sisters. 1st 4 have steel whip and sigmarite Warhammer, Auger just the hammer, Sisters sig wh and sling.

Dwarfs, Undead, Reiklanders, Hire Swords, Witch Hunters etc pictures to follow.

I can't see the pics (though I'd really like to). Is it just me?

Google photos are invisible to everyone other than you unless you unless (1) you put them in an album, (2)click the three vertical dot bar on the top of the album page, (3)choose options, AND click the button for linking. Once you have done that you will be able to share the photos...I had to discover that myself.

The Forces of Evil & Good look SPLENDID; they are BEAUTIFULLY painted creations. VERY WELL DONE!

I can see both and like them. The Possessed are finely converted and the Sister's colour scheme is unusual but works fine imo. Who makes these sisters, are they for Frostgrave?

Very nice looking warbands. I really like the Sisters- great creations.

Thanks and yes. Frostgrave women soldiers but the superiors have spare arms from perry miniatures knights to give a more armoured look. The leader also has a plastic helmeted head from wargames factory amazon. The whips are wire.

Dragon Company Scouts - Dwarfs

This was my first warband. A long term Warhammer player I never played Mordheim when it first came out, my Warhammer army was dwarfs. Years later when I had the chance to play Mordheim I had been working on a Thunderer unit to match my dwarf army so sculpted them to match Prince Ulthers Dragon Company. The central models of this warband are some of my spare sculpts. I like the warband but I have had games where they only moved less than 6" further into the board from their stating positions!

Freiderheim Rotary Club - Reikland Mercenaries

My highest rating gang over the past 12 months. It also includes a halfling scout and 3 warhounds, total gang size 14 (so not all the models shown are in the current gang). I also have a couple of models that represent the same hero as they progressed and got more kit, one being the drummer girl youngblood that became a halberd wielding S4, A4 killing machine.

I can see the first two pictures, but not the Dwarves or Reiklanders. Is this just me?

That said, I like the first two pictures, especially the Sisters! They're a really nice set of kitbashes to fill in what's often a gap in the Mordheim miniatures range... & I like that they're wrapped up warm, since Mordheim seems such a chilly place. The colour scheme's good too -- austere & monastic, but with enough texture & contrast to make them look good. Great work!

Thanks Rhydderch, hopefully the pictures show now. The sisters had their first game last night, a skirmish with undead pirates and gladiators. All the gangs were reduced to flee tests and unfortunately the sisters failed first! One sister died and another got talent.

Kriegs Hunt - Undead

This gang as been developed twice at 2 different clubs. There are 2 vampires as I started with one but then made up another for when he bought a suit of armour. Again there are more models here than are in the gang at it current rating. This rating was after 6 games.

Those are three OUTSTANDING looking War Bands. VERY WELL DONE!

Witch Hunters - Not yet played.

And finally the Hired Swords!



The Prince (second from the left) has been rescued and killed a few times in group scenarios. Second from the right is Little Adolf the beggar, we had a group scenario where he needed to be captured by a gang but always ran away from the nearest model. The Ogre (big fella in the centre) has been found a couple of times in the exploration phase but never kept on! Most of them have their own little stories.

Hmm, my ability to see the pictures always seems a bit behind the updates... (The last two, the Witch Hunters & Hired Swords aren't working -- but not doubt that'll be sorted before I check back)

But those undead are a particularly bloody looking bunch -- I really like the fiendish red eyes of the dire wolves there!

The sisters got a couple of games in before the club stopped for Christmas. Did not win but played well and improving nicely.

The photos are still invisible to me at least.

Your Witchunters and Hired Swords aren't showing for me either Ironskar.
