WIP Marauder warband

I have decided to start a new warband after having a look at the BTB rules and the Marauders caught my eye, mainly cause i had always wanted a proper chaos warband(Marauders/Warriors) in mordheim and a slight side project from the army i'm currently working on.
I think most the models in this will be heavily convert cause i don't like the Marauder models too much

right enough jibber jabber and onto acouple of picture eh?

Well when I saw it was you posting I knew it'd be a cracker, I wasn't disappointed! Get more work done on it (and the others) NOW man! I love the shrivelled head, where's that mini from?

ps just realised that looks like Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddy...

I also like the Skull Mask somewhat more than the helmeted head. It looks to be a pretty cool mini, which your painting will ONLY make cooler.
Taking a break from doing up ranked units is an EXCELLENT idea. It will keep both projects fresh & interesting & stop the drudge-work-feel that army building induces. I look forward to seeing BOTH projects evolve!

Nice choice for the Chieftain. Makes my guy look like a midget.

I'll be keeping an eye on this to possibly steal ideas for my own warband! Huzzah! Maybe I'll even get around to doing more work on my warband. I'm sure you'll still finish your whole Chaos army by the time I've got the next model finished.

I wish i could paint that fast . hurry up with yours so i can steal ideas from you! your comp entry made me think how cool the marauder models can look, so that kinda helped me start these too.

gotta finish the bone and the leathers, i was thinking about keeping the cape black, what do you reckon?

Impressive sucker.

If you intend to keep the cloak black, then I would add some interest to it by adding faded edges and dirt to the bottom of it.

Mix in a little Scorched Brown to the highlights for the whole thing, makes it seem more natural looking. Then use Kommando Khaki for the highlight stages but take it up lighter at the bottom edge to show where the dye has faded, and the edges have frayed.

Oh, and I'll start a thread here once I get a little more done on the Condemned model I started the other day.

As a Anti-Grime person, I like it JUST THE WAY IT IS! Save the grunge for 40K: Fantasy minis SHOULD look FANTASTIC, & yours DOES! The shield turned out VERY nicely after all yours doubts. Another SPLENDID mini; WELL DONE!
Pretty clever that you based him in a similar manner to your army, which enables you to use him in both the army & the warband. Multipurposing IS the way!

Very nice! I am especially interested in how you´ll portay the condemned.
I do have one question:
You go for the very heavily armoured look in your Chieftain and Champions, does your group play strictly "what you see is what you get"? Or do you have more leeway and simply go for what looks cool?

ummm abit of a mixture, most of us are fine without the wysiwyg. but what i normally do is go for what looks cool plus after afew games( if im lucky) my warband is normally armed with what they have on the model. so the Chieftain will get some heavy/gromril armour sometime. Plus i gave the Champions and Chieftain a bigger/interesting look cause they would be the more stronger/well equipped in the tribe (so one would think). hope that answers somehow

Very nice looking WIP shots. I haven't a clue what a Condemned ACTUALLY is [my PC refuses to do downloads, leaving BtB a place of mystery ], but he looks to be a nasty piece of work. This is going to be fun to watch; SO GET CRACKING!

Deafnala: The Condemned is a guy who turned from one Chaos God in favour of another and is now being fought over by both gods. He is constantly mutating (random stats every round of combat).

Foot: Great job so far. Looks like the Champion needs to wax his back hair a bit first.

I like the horn bursting through the helmet on the Condemned. My Condemned is a lot more understated. As if he his deity has started to win the battle and he has more control over the mutations (ie. gained some experience ).

The minis is really great. I love the pose! However, I'd like to point out that the Condemned is not allowed to wear weapons (no axe) or armour.

yah i know they cant to begin with just thought he would look slightly boring with out the axe and armour. but hopefully i will get the stat upgrades then i can use the weapons and armour

nope, he gets turned into a spwan if he reaches 90 Experience points and if the attributes are not set

Oh yeah, you're right. To me, having all attributes set and reaching 90 XP are in the same league of near impossibility, I guess. It does happen, but it depends on your gaming group. Chances are that someone will complete their objective before that happens...

yeah thats true, but you don't have to have them at their maximum though plus you only have to set 4 of them, so thats a good thing if you get the right rolls.
