[BtB] Marauder Equipment

Just a quick question, which I am pretty sure has been answered before, but now that I have searched the forum for an hour or so, I think I'll just stop looking and ask the question:

If a Marauder becomes a Hero, does he then switch to the Hero Equipment List, or does this only happen if he gets the 'Chosen of Chaos' skill?

Quoted from the Mordheim rulebook:

"You may buy additional equipment between battles,
but your warriors can only use the weapons and
armour listed in their warband entry. As they
accumulate experience and gain skills, Heroes may
learn to use weapons other than those initially
available to them."

"Weapons and armour purchased, swapped or taken
from storage for your warband must be of an
appropriate type for the warrior, as indicated by the
warband lists."

And for TLGT:

"The
new Hero remains the same Henchman type (eg,
a Ghoul stays as a Ghoul)..."

Though a hero he/she will remain the same henchman type which in turn sets him/her to still use the henchman equipment list.
So its indeed the chosen of chaos skill that specificially allows using the hero equipment list. Alternatively you can learn weapons training/expert...

However, another opinion would be most welcome.

I second Exterminans - they still use the list they did as henchmen, unless they get the Chosen skill.

Weapons Training would indeed allow the hero to use all the weapons on the list ( and more) but what I think makes the ability to use the hero list especially valuable is the inclusion of heavy armor, allowing the hero to use it and its variations (ithlimar and gromril, etc).

It's less clear to me if they can all use the henchmen list at all if they get Chosen, or if the Hero list replaces it. It just says the hero "uses...the Hero equipment list". This only matters for throwing weapons, since it's the only weapon that's on the henchmen list and not on the hero list. I'd say the promoted hero can use both lists with the skill, since I'd find it a bit silly that they'd suddenly forget to use them.
