| Hello, I thought I'd post some pictures of my dwarves. These are all old WHFB models from my collection that I've re-purposed for my local club's upcoming campaign. We have the noble & engineer. The troll slayers. The thunderers. A group shot: They are all painted to a "gaming standard" but I'm quite happy with them. Feel free to comment & feedback. | |

| I like your dwarves a lot, both choice of models and paint-wise. Sure, there could be some more depth and highlights, but the colours work well together and they are very clean. Even the eyes turned out well. I alsow like the turquois you used on the crossbowmen and engineer. You could put a little on the other minis (at least the noble) to tie the minis together a bit more. Also, the noble looks a little odd having a different base than the other minis., | |

| Thanks for your kind words & advice. I guess the restrained colours come from me painting lots of world war 2 historical figures for the last year - muddy & muted are the order of the day there.
I was actually a little concerned that the turquoise was too bright! Bringing the rest together with the same splash of colour sounds like a good experiment.
I had originally planned for them all to get planked bases, but I had to rush to get them ready for the first campaign game in the next few days. I was going to go back and do the other bases, too.
I'm not sure whether to give them all planked bases, now, or if it would be better to change the noble' s base to match the others more basic base. I'll probably wait until the first game and see what matches best with the scenery we use.
Decisions, decisions....

| On the bases: Check out the other Guys' bases at the game. If one strikes your fancy, copy it. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery; plus you can ask how they did it. | |

| So, some conclusions from the first campaign game that influenced my painting: A) I needed to paint up a crossbow hero after a lads got talent advance roll. B) The other players' bases were very nice but weren't exactly inspirational so I'd have to do my own thing. C) The planked base looked good but wasn't particularly robust and would look tatty after a few games. D) The dwarves spend most of their time at street level so cobbles/setts would be more thematic. So we now have my seven dwarves: I will need to increase the model count to more than seven soon to avoid my fellow gamers asking where my model for snow white is... | |

| LOOKIN GOOD! I tend to do the broken cobblestones also; re, there's more you can do with them like grass growing through the cracks, some fungi, etc.. They seem happy with the nice solid stones underfoot. The Xbowman on the right has a WONDERFUL, expressive face. GREAT WORK! - lordlucan wrote:

... OR you could take on a Hired Babe...a Tilean Female Xbow would be cool.

| They gained 50% hight with the new bases, right? I like them a lot, though the stones still look a little cold. The grass and funghi DeafNala mentioned would work, also some drybrushing. And "in real life" all cobbles probably don't have the exact same colour. Also you might consider shading your noble's beard. | |

| Thanks for the advice - grass, moss & lichen are soon to appear, now!
The bases themselves are 3d printed with a powder technique, so "distressing" a few stones is a relatively easy job.
I also need to work some more on my photography - some of the colours (like some of the stones & the nobles beard) are definitely being washed out in the photographs.
Another game tonight, ao I'll see if anything else gets added to the painting queue as a result. If not, I might paint some clansmen next, anyway.

| The stunties are looking good on their new bases. You need a female hired sword of some type. Named Snow White of course. | |

| Had a few more games which have populated the painting queue. A clansman has been hired, with obligatory big axe. One of my troll slayers met his end at the hands of a nasty orc. His replacement has been hired. The remaining original troll slayer has remained unsuccessful (he's still alive). He has, however been bought a new axe and has gained all sorts of upgrades. His latest exploits include killing a vampire with a single mighty blow and routing an entire skaven warband single handed. Of such deeds legends are made so he's getting a new model to represent his new status within the club, so that's next up.... | |

| She's very, very good.
Not sure she'd make it through the interview, though;
"do you have your own axe, hammer and/or crossbow?"

| The gems are a stop-gap to get him on the table for a game tomorrow and may well change colour - I was thinking green ir maybe turquoise to tie in with the rest of the warband.
To be honest I don't really like the beard and hair at all - It doesn't have the same impact as the beard in the fella with the double handed axe.
Not sure why or what do do about it. I'm 50/50 on this one so far.

| Well your brushwork is TERRIFIC even as a rush job... GREAT WORK! Since you mentioned it, I would agree that isn't one of Citadel's better Slayers. He lacks the gritty feel that I associate with the Death Seeking Loonies...before taking The Oath perhaps he was a Hair Stylist. That aside, this is the Other Snow White that Whit Knight makes...more of a rough & tumble Adventuress: ...pretty cool, eh?! | |

Is she available commercially? My google-fu has failed me.

| The second Snow White is already on my list for whenever I need another Youngblood. This model would just be perfect. Sorry for the OT! The problem with the new slayer probably is that the pose is somewhat off, but that's not your fault of course. And due to the paintjob it's just one orange blob on the battlefield right now. So the eye doesn't have soemthing to orientate by. If you can set the jewels apart later a little, the whole model might look a little "calmer". | |
