Hi,

after a few years of abstinence, I started painting my Beastmen Raiders this week. I wanted to show you the result and would ask for your tipps (if necessary ;-))

The base is made of milliput and sand and mostly drybrushed.

The fur of the gor is made with rhinox hide, washed with Agrax Earthshade, then drybrushed with Rhinox Hide, Doombull Brown, Tuskgor Fur and 50/50 Tuskgor Fur/Ushabti Bone

Metal ist drybrushed leadbelcher, washed with Badab Black, drybrushed leadbelcher, drybrushed Runefang Steel. Gold the same only with Balthasar Gold and Sycorax Bronze.

Red is painted Khorne Red, washed with Canobery Crimson. Highlighted with Khorne Re, Wazdakka Red and 50/50 Wazdakka Red/Wild Rider Red

Hooves and Horn are painted Ungor Flesh, washed with Agrax E. Then drybrushed with Ungor Flesh and Ushabti Bone.

Skin is painted with Skavenblight Dinge, then washed with Badab Black. Then highlighted with Skavenblight Dinge, 50/50 Skavenblight Dinge/Stormvermin Fur, then Stormvermin Fur.

Actually I’m pretty satisfied with the result.

The only thing which bothers me are the horns. Do you have any tipps for me? Actually I think the hooves are pretty good.
The other thing would be the skin. I’m not sure if it’s too dark or if I should add another layer of Administrator Grey or a 50/50 Administrator Grey/Stormvermin Fur?

What do you think?

Best regards,
Seikilos

Your SPLENDID brushwork doesn't appear to have suffered for the absence. AND your color choices work WONDERFULLY with the Beasty Guy; the bright red & the earthy neutral colors work well together...the hooves are particularly nice. VERY WELL DONE!   thumbsup

Good overall paint scheme, but I think right now it is too dark. Bringing the highlight on the skin up a layer (or possibly two) would help make it pop more. Hooves turned out well, horns done in the same manner look a little lifeless. Unfortunately, this is something I've noticed with drybrushed bone colors, they just don't work as well on horns. I'd recommend using the same colors, just as very watered down highlight layers painted on normally. More work, but not too much, and worth it in the end.
