Some fightings in Mordhiem Empty

The rumors turned out to be true! In one of the buildings there was a hidden treasure chest with valuable stuff in it. We went off as soon as we got our weapons and gear ready. But alas, we were too late! The captain will have to check the loyalty of his informants, 'cause the wretched Skavens and the foul Undead came before us! They were already looking so we took elevated positions, lay low and watched what would happen. The Skavens got lucky and found the chest first, and soon after that they rallied around it with some of them stayed behind to provide cover. The Undead zombies were unmatched in speed with those damn rats but ghouls managed to get near and the fight went on. Few blows were exchanged but with no casualties on both sides so the fight continued. We used this situation to fire some arrows on both of them but with little success. Only one of our guys managed to shoot one of the Skaven heroes and put him out of action. But poor fella, trying to reach better shooting position, he stuck his foot on some rubble and fell down earning himself an injury which made him incapable of further fighting. Skavens were determined to take the chest for themselves and they stood, I must say bravely, against ghouls which were now joined with Necromancer and his dregs. Even Necromancer's magic could not scare them off! But then came the Vampire! He easily broke through Skaven ranks straight to the guy that was carrying the chest. Poor bastard did not stand a chance against the undead creature, he was dead before he could react. After that the rest of the surviving rats ran away. The captain thought that this was our chance to do something so he ordered us to concentrate all fire on the Vampire while he and the rest of our heroes will try to flank them. Don't know if it was some kind of magic or a bad luck, but our arrows could not harm any of them, especially the Vampire! To make things worse, two zombies that came out of nowhere, attacked our captain and got him injured, while one of our youngbloods stumbled upon the running skaven sorcerer and got cut down by some foul rat magic. The situation got desperate and with few of us left Gunther, our second in command, ordered retreat leaving the Undead with the prize. We took little from this fight, only two wyrdstone shards and some gold crowns. The only good thing from all this is that our injured guys managed to recover without serious consequences.

We knew where the Undead were hiding, and we didn't want them to get away with the treasure that easy, so we equipped ourselves with garlic, captain even managed to acquire a vial of Holy Water, and went off to take back what is "righteously" ours! We waited for the dawn, as if there is any dawn in Mordheim, guessing that it will give us some proper chances because Vampire's powers will be considerably reduced. Captain gave the order to split up in two groups, one will lure the enemy from their hideout making them easy targets for our second group which took position up on the roofs and walls of surrounding buildings. Youngbloods, eager to prove themselves worthy, volunteered to play the bait. As soon as they managed to get some decent cover they started to make noise trying to get the attention, while captain and our two champions were ready to charge and also to cover our flanks. The plan was successful! Mindless zombies immediately started to move towards the noise and they were soon taken out by our arrows. Then came the dregs and ghouls, followed by more zombies. Dregs were cautious, they kept their heads down, moving from cover to cover, and they managed to get in close combat with our champions. On the other side mad ghouls tried to outflank us but they were unable to because of efficiency of our marksmen. On one occasion we noticed Necromancer, on one of the windows, but he hesitated to show up and we didn't know why! Anyway the fight went on. Youngbloods took down a couple of Zombies and one of the Dregs was cut down by the blade of our 2nd in command! We were slowly wining the fight but our captain was reserved. All this was not convincing enough for him. Like he was expecting a Vampire to show up. Lucky for us it never did! Either because of the smell of garlic, or fear from Holly Water, or something else perhaps, we didn't see anything of it! Left alone, without their leader, the Undead soon gave up the fight and fled, leaving us victorious! Immediately after we searched the house for the treasure but did not find anything valuable. Captain suspected that the treasure was taken by the Vampire somewhere else and that was the reason why it never came to aid his minions. Who knows…
