| I could have sworn there was a post about something like this a few months back... There was a High Elf warband someone made I remember that worked similar in that it started off very powerful but could not replace losses without starting over. It would play to a set goal then disband and start over. I really liked it (which says something if I like an ELF warband!) but have not been able to find it in a while... I thought it looked suprisingly balanced for an elf band. Felt a lot like WFRPG 1st ed. | |

| I could see a small band of magic users doing something like this.
Pretty much just plug the spyer theme in and replace technology with magic.
No henchmen, and they just go back to where ever they came from after they complete their goals

| you not only have to ask yourself: is it fair, but also: is it fun to play against
for example, someone could make an elf warband list, with only 5 super snipers
let's assume the list is totally balanced
that doesn't mean, that the list is any fun to play against
mostly, it is the same with wizard college warbands IMO

| I am thinking the band would be evil aligned as they are solely there to hunt people/ things. Im wondering if there should be a race like the Dark Elves or something like that. Or maybe they are just evil humans. | |

| It could make for an interesting Cult of a minor Chaos god, constantly being granted new favorable mutations in a small incremental way. Or could be fun for it to be a Wizard leading a unit of Constructs that he is constantly improving and upgrading. | |

| More thoughts:
Chosen of Chaos / Chaos Warrior - ( Next to the Daemon warband, it's the Brunelleschi's dome of Warbands- many have tried, but none have made it work)
Manhunter Warband - Based on the Empire in Flames Roadwarden and Beasthunter hired swords, with maybe the bounty hunter & marksman hs's thrown in. Strong humans, each with a tailored strength. Also fits the vow, as they've been hired to track down one threat, and then disband.
Dark Elf Black Guard - Elite dark elves- great in hth, but would also have snipers too. For once, I'd agree with the "elf rarity" rule (which seems like overkill for Shadow Elves)
Wood Elf Wild Riders - The strongest of Wood Elves. The vow works pretty well (as they have a set goal... and probably leave after they're bored.)
Vampire Thrall - A core team of vampires. Can have henchmen, but they're all undead goons that don't learn exp.
I'll pitch in my two-cents when it comes to rules, but fluff must come first.

| If you are looking for a small band of very hard fighters Zelophahad has just started using a Black Orc warband (from the Nemesis Crown campaign pack). His starter warband has 5 models (Boss, 2 Black Orcs, 2 Young'Unz) with loads of heavy armour, shields and helmets. They beat the snot out of my starter Orc and Goblin warband this week - I just couldn't injure any of them! | |

| I was thinking what about instead of having specific fluff, the warband is a group of "classic" adventurers?
Like barbarian, rouge, wizard, ranger, the classic role playing tropes.
I think the warband should be made up of just heroes, or more like a warband of light dramatis personas.
That way people can create their own stories and fluff for their models.

| Look up the Adventuers Warband from Karak something or other. (I bet that just got me in the book of grudges...) It had the classic tropes in it and could be a good springboard into this. | |
