Marauders of Chaos warband (painted by Admin Tom)

Thanks for the pics! What kind of camera do you use? I can never get my pics to focus.

How did the battle turn out?

I use my girl-friend's digital camera. Important things are choosing the "flower" option for close objects and - in my case - using a stand to avoid camera shake. Also the light is important. Unless the sun is shining right thru the window on my gaming table I need to attach a lamp to make sure the models are illuminated. Even then I often use Photoshop to adjust the picture's brightness and contrast values.

Hope this helps a little.

I will try that option. I never knew that before. I have photo shop editor but have no idea how to use it. LOL.

Alright, I'll try to be a little ontopic.... erm... I'll repaint the base of my Chaos Spawn soon to make it fit into the rest of the warband. Also I need to paint some Chaos hounds. Unfortunately I'm out of snow flock so it'll take a little.

WHAT A BUMMER!

ALL the COOL pictures up front went away in to that Nebulous Region normally occupied by missing socks. NOW what am I going to do for inspiration? [Well there ARE a FEW hundred other minis to look at, but... ]

Well, it's only some WIP pics that are missing. The painted models can still be seen from this post onward. You can also see them on the gallery section of the Border Town Burning website (although you may experience difficulties there if you use Internet Explorer). Lastly, you can also see the minis in the mordheim section of my wargames website/blog, where I will be posting more often now.

ACTUALLY, I'm dragging some of the older threads with GREAT minis kicking & screaming back into the light to draw attention to them for ALL the New Forumites. Pretty devious, eh!?

maybe instead of threadromancing we should lock all the old threads and create a new thread showing one picture of every thread and providing links to the dead threads?

This way the new warbands and models posted by people arnt constantly competing for attention with the long old ones.

This is not a bad idea, mrbretonnia. I've been thinking something similar recently. But let's not discuss that here. How about you start a thread concerning this issue in the Opinion Box section, where we can discuss it. I'll happily join you there.

As for this thread: that's why I included a link to the post where the painted minis start. I try to keep most of my longer threads sorted by editing the initial post (compare my scenery threads in the gallery section e.g.). And even more ontopic: I've cleaned the base of my Spawn of Chaos recently (at last!). Now I just need to take pics. It's nothing special though, so you're not missing out on much while I'm being lazy.

I finally took a pic of my spawn. I bought it assembled and painted on ebay for less than the new price, but it arrived broken into thousands of pieces so I had to re-assemble it and re-paint it partially. You can still clearly see the original paint job, though. Again, it is pretty dark here and I really need to get myself a new bulb so I can take better shots. Anyways, I figured a little update of this thread wouldn't hurt.

VERY NICE ADDITION! He/she/it fits into the Warband seamlessly; maybe it was an advantage coming busted up so you could apply "the cianty touch".
This is the first time I got a REALLY good view of your snow effect; VERY NICE. It has the iced over feel of snow that has melted in the sunlight, & formed a thin layer of ice. WELL DONE!

Great looking warband! My Dwarfs do not stand a chance against the onslaught of Chaos.

Make that a Cathayan Jet Pilot & it COULD work in the BTB setting!

I dont think they issue Cathayan jet pilots parachutes though....just gliding wings that fold up.

I was very impressed with the recent release of the new Chaos Marauder Horsemen for Warhammer. I like the new heads a lot - they are very varied and different from each other and look much better than the old stereotypical barbarian heads. The body parts, however, are no use to me because converting them into a warrior on foot would be too much work but I don't even like them that much. There is too much armour for my taste. So I ordered a dozen of the new heads and axe arms as well as some additional body parts and legs of the old marauders from BitzBox. I now have a crapload of marauder bits starring at me. I should be working on my tunnel terrain for the BTB supplement but I could not resist assembling a first new marauder. The heads are really inspiring and motivating to come up with some cool dynamic poses.

Somehow this marauder model has a Native American look to him. This is obviously mostly due to the head but the whole pose supports this impression. I can easily imagine this model wielding a tomahawk instead, ready to scalp the European intruders. Back to Warhammer: this is also a sort of equivalent to one of my Warrior Monks, showing that marauders too can be agile and dynamic.

As I feared the model would be too unstable I pinned the foot that is standing on the rock. Since I could not drill a whole in the stone I extended the rock with Green Stuff so that I then could put the marauder on the rock. Since this is a plastic model this does seem to work alright.

EDIT: Oh, and excuse the bad quality of the photo. Personal update: I don't need a new bulb, I now need a new lamp.
