| Hi everybody Being new to the forum, I thought I would post a few of my latest WIPs. The first one is a library. To make the building a little different I decided not to make any windows on the lower level. The missing parts so far is: The entrance, the railing around the balcony, lots of shelves on the first floor (some along the walls and some on the floor) + lots of books, the roof and some rubble. Oh yeah - some paint to... The other WIP is a windmill. Lots of work to do on this one (to many to write down ) /AlexBware | |

| Hey Alex! Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting! Both pieces of scenery look promising. Keep us posted on your progress. How are you planning to make the books in the library? _________________ | |

| WELCOME ABOARD! What a COOL way of introducing yourself! It will be a blast watching these buildings evolve; a lot of potential here. I LOVE the way the stairs are going in the Library. ACTUALLY I like the whole concept of a Library;i.e., I hadn't even thought of including one, but it's VERY appropriate for Mordheim AND it would be a focal point in a section with academic/university buildings or maybe a wizard's tower or two, that sort of stuff [definite theft potetial here ]. The Windmill is ANOTHER cool idea Ithat until now hadn't crossed my mind [my mind is a low traffic area these days ]. EXCELLENT IDEAS! TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL! So get busy, kid!

| Wow. Very cool. I really like the windmill Idea. Just great, and well executed.
My only cretique is for playability. Unless you prefer camper/sniper warbands, I would try to have an entrance/exit on both sides of your library.

| Small update on the llibrary with a few miniatures on it for size comparison. The rubble has been poured over glue, som much of it is in excess, and will be removed (a few broken shelves instead and some books added). The books are quite easy to make. Clip of a small piece of balsawood with GW-clippers (or some other clippers). The wood needs to be fairly even on one side. Then wrap a small piece of paper around the wood - except on the even side of the balsa wood. I will post a few pics later. | |

| COOL IDEAS! I've been doing up scrolls of various sizes & shapes for awhile now mostly out of Plumber's Epoxy, but I hadn't thought of doing up books UNTIL NOW! YET ANOTHER little item to add to my "things-to-make" list. The Library is coming along VERY NICELY. The balconey, in particular, is a VERY well done piece of work, as are the stairs. This is going to a CENTERPIECE level creation, AND a PLEASURE to see evolve. BRAVO! | |

| Hi, there are some very good ideas and I'll watch your progress. The mill is very promising...you could add some bursted bags with rancid wheat (like in the Warcraft 3 scenario, where you have to destroy the infected windmills) Ashton, thanks for the link, this is a great tutorial and I'll give this definetly a try! | |

| I love the library. In fact I love it so much I'd like to ask for your permission to shamelessly use it as a template for my first building project. My most important question, what is holding up the balcony to support it, if anything? |

| A small update - the library is almost ready for paint. I just need to fix the roof tiles, which I am already working on. Also after the painting is done, I will add the shelves and the books. Anyways its pictures you want, so here you are. Back (with a good friend of mine in the background working on the windmillproject. Front (without rooftiles) Front (with rooftiles) And Illanair - I took a picture from ground level - the balcony is suspended on a long piece of foamcore with the edges cut as to minimize the amount seen from above. Some shelves Some books In a short while I will have a major update on the windmill project. | |

| Clever way to support it. Thanks for showing The library is coming along really nice. I can't wait to see it finished. Your windmill reminds me of one we have in Aalborg. Looking forward to see how that works out. |

| Wow! That windmill is fantastic! I'll be watching your progress closely on this one.
The library is also excellent - as Oldcastle says, we're thinking of a campaign (after the current one) revolving around the idea of a collection of books. Since the group love 'The Great Library' scenario so much, it seems like a logical choice, and your library, and all those books, are exactly the sort of thing I'll be needing to make. I'll be watching this one as well!
Excellent work. | |

A very good piece of scenery imo. Just imagine a group of Witchhunters trying to hang a catched cultist member, while the rest of the gang are trying desperately to save their fellow member. (Just like in the Robin Hood movie with Kevin Costner, where he shoots the rope just in time). Again a new thing added to my To-Do list... it grows and grows and I have no time realize all the things that are swirling on my mind

| Subject: Painting update Tue 7 Oct 2008 - 23:04 | |
| Hi again I figured it was time for a small update on the library. I have painted the walls of the library with a mixture of white glue, black paint and sand (the glue to keep the sand on the wall when drybrushing later on. When the gluemixture was dry a layer black was added on the wall using a sponge (to remove the gloss from the glue). While I was painting the walls, some of the railing fell of the balcony (I will add that later). The balcony and the roofstructure has been painted a mixture of brown, black and white (I wanted a dark greenish brown - like wood that has been unattended in the outdoors for some time - semi-rotten). After the walls were textured and painted black, I drybrushed the walls with grey and the wood with the same mixture as before, just with more white in it. Again I used a sponge for drybrushing on the walls (brush in the wood) Still some work to do - fix the railing, the rubble on the floor, fix remailing rooftiles (I decided to wait until I was done with most of the painting), and fix up minor mistakes with a regular brush (the sponge can be quite messy). Oh yeah - add shelves and books all around. Anyway - time for some pictures. Front (rooftiles drying on the table in the background) Back Back2 plus balcony/stairs | |
