HI all,
1st time poster in a bit of dilema
I recently got back into mordheim after about an 8 year break. Was looking forward to it and really enjoyed the games but my luck was abysmal!
I started a Reikland mercenary band; Captain, 2 Champs, 2 Youngbloods, 2 Swordsmens and 3 Marksmens. Faced off against a new skaven warband, with lots of slings!
He beat me soundly in game 1, but it could have gone the other way - think I wounded about a dozen times but never rolled 5/6, only finished 2 of his guys via stun - auto OoA. (worst of all was double charged a gutter runner with champ+youngblood who fluffed it and both got OoA!)
Second game we played breakthough - me attacking. He lost 5 guys but passed 3 rout tests. I had two guys within 8" of the board edge when I failed my 1st rout! AHHH. Worst of all was double charged a gutter running with champ+youngblood who fluffed it and both got OaA! - AGAIN!)
The majority of his injury roles ended up okay or positive (he even rolled multiple injuries, but then D6 1 .... full recovery!). Mine were shocking, I now have ....
captain with battle wound ... doesn't fight on D6 1
champion missing 3 games
2nd champion with -toughness
youngblood with -1 initiative
My henchmen are looking a little better, now have 3 swordsmen (with +1 Ld), 2 marksmen with bows (+1 BS) and 1 marksmen with handgun (+1A)
But he stacked up an impressive collection of experience, three characters with extra toughness or wounds, two with extra attacks and skills to choose
Seriously considering ditching my guys and starting again, spending less money on light armour which is pretty worthless, maybe no handgun (which looks cool but not effective) and improving weapon choices
rant over... what do you think!? It's not very sporting to bail on warband, but my previous experience are hero's skills/advances are the cool bit and mine are looking decidedly sub-par!
