The Haunted Village of Wortbad

WIP so far on the first Realmgate for Wortbad: black spray undercoat, (Halfords car undercoat) grey spray zenithal highlight, Nuln Oil black wash:

It is coming along SPLENDIDLY! In it's monochromatic stage it reminds me of Frankenstein although without Colin Clive, Mae Barker, or Boris Karloff. GREAT WORK!  

Lovely Scenery! Makes me lament the discontinuation of the Garden of Morr. You really demonstrate the versatility of that kit so well!

Just a bit of progress: the dry-brushed white base for the spirits and magical energy stuff. Nihilakh Oxide wash and highlight of white coming next

Are you doing it in monochromatic/grey scale then? That's a technique I'm thinking of using for a photographic background piece.  

G.W. seems to be limiting a lot of stuff to their U.K. customers...that's a fine way to alienate a lot of their customer base.

No, there are coloured washes going on - I just haven't got to them yet.

I don't think it's intentional - more that it's easier to restock in the Uk where things are made. There are some scenery pieces that have been available in the US that have run out in the UK, the Magewrath Throne / Balewind Vortex set for example.

It is fun watching this evolve...keep up the GOOD WORK!  

More work on the haunted Realmgate! I've drybrushed the stonework with Ubshanti Bone and picked out some of the smoother areas of magical effects with thinned white.

It's coming along nicely. You're starting to get a ghostly glow to the gateway. GREAT WORK!  

More WIP: coloured washes added to the Shyish Realmgate. Biel-tan Green and Drakenhof Nightshade (blended in with Lahmian Medium) on the magical effects and some Agrax Earthshade and Athonian Camoshade to the stonework.

Quite impressive work, really liking the ethereal feel of the spirits!

The Haunted Gate is a Baleful Realmgate in Wortbad, named for the writhing ghostly forms visible in its internal corona. The roiling magic energies within it's arch are entangled with Death Magic and the spirits of the dead so it glows with an eerie pale green-white light. The dark stonework is damp and weather stained with thin layers of green algae growing in places.

It is partly surrounded by a crumbling ruin from a time, long ago in another age, when it was enclosed by a protective building. Though no one knows if it was protecting the gate or the lands around it from the gate.

That turned out SPLENDIDLY. It has an eerie quality to it that all the dead leave & withered grass enhance nicely. VERY WELL DONE!

My next mini-project for Wortbad is for a scenario in which every turn a number of zombies appears equal to the number of casualties removed in the last turn plus 1D6. This was planned as a Halloween game but neither Godfather Viktor or I was ready in time. This lot need to be finished in the next 2 weeks!
