| ".... you find yourself in a damp and dark place, desperatly trying to get a grip of where you are. The air is thick and warm, feels alot like breething in flames. As you regain what's left of your sanity you notice a strange person over in the corner of what is left of the burnt down house you're currently in. A malnourished, wicked human formed creature with a bag over his head. His breathing is loud and through the small holes cut out of the bag is a pair of bloodshot eyes staring right at you.... " Well, i'm that guy behind the paperbag! And i'm a Swedish Mordheim player who currently are working on what will be equal to four tables worth of Mordheim terrain. I'm part of a group of players who call ourselfs the Emerald Gauntlet and i'm the main terrainbuilder and gamemaster. In this topic i will share my progress on the Mordheim city that i will produce, expect alot of updates for a long period of time. Since i have no plan to rush this build as i'm aiming for very high detailing. To start this thread off i though i would share with you a rough sketch of what essensially will be the building representing the Emerald Gauntlet in game. Note that this sketch is far from the final product, as it only shows the part of the building that is still in one piece. There will be a balcony and a stair leading up to the balcony, sort of like a kitchen entrance. The other sides of the building will be trashed, aswell as parts of the building you can see on the sketch. Depending on what i see fit with the overall feel of the building. I hope you will enjoy this as much as i, and i look forward to your feedback as i go along. Cheers Paperbag.. | |

| Looks great so far. I really enjoy the design part of this stuff. I almost enjoy it as much as the game itself. | |

| @Arli. Thanks! I agree that the design part is alot of fun aswell, and it makes you work hard to build something great. I really look forward to play on this city when it's done, because i think it's going to be spectacular.
What would you say is the best design for the ground in Mordheim? Cobblestone? Dirt? Square stones? a mixture of those? I'm having a hard time desiding how to base my buildings, should i build them on a small base cut allmost exactly along the lines of the building. Or should i build them with a base and make the edges of the base cobble or cornerstones?

| The sketch looks GOOD. Rarely have my own buildings turned out looking like the original design. If yours survives the transition, it will look TERRIFIC...probably will look just as terrific, if not more, if it doesn't. At any rate, have FUN with The Project! For an idea about the streets check out Tom's board here: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t572-tom-s-boring-mordheim-meetup-chapter-onet's a nice mix of paving stones & larger pieces. | |

| @DeafNala. Thanks! I'm pretty sure it will look great, atleast that's what i intend it to look I will start cutting out foamcore later this evening to the second and third floors, as i'm still waiting for my hotwire and balsa to arrive. Which will arrive next week! When they do i can go all bonkers on the build and finish the first floor and start decorating the exterior. Thanks for the ideas! I was thinking maybe i should make the main parts of the board paving stones and where the joints are between the three sheets of foam, maybe go for a pattern that will make the seam allmost invicible. | |

| Hey Paperbag, what a great way to introduce yourself. It sounds like you have some high ambitions (you really aim for 4 tables worth of ruins?? - Awsome!). Your sketch looks great already, and with the addition of stairs, balconies and walkways should make for a really playable piece of terrain. I look forward to seeing your progress! | |

| @Lion1. Thanks! Yes i aim for atleast four tables worth of ruins and rubble! It will take some time, but it will be worth it in the end Here's some progress for you! I finished cutting out the second floor of the building and laid down a basic floor. Next up is cutting windows, more details on the walls, a railing, a stair and so on. Then there's the third floor, roof, first floor and base. | |

| I agree that the floor looks VERY promising; AND the Emerald Gauntlet looks to have enough room for an EPIC Barroom Brawl or similar social event. Watching the place develop will be a treat. Keep up the FINE WORK! | |

| @theomar pius. Thanks! In fact, your work is one of my biggest inspirations. @DeadNala. Thanks! I bet there will be alot of barbrawls in there. In fact in our upcoming campaign i will arrange for barbrawl scenarios, where the warband leaders go at each other with fists. I've made some more progress on the building: I have cut out a couple of windows, aswell as done some wall damage. Also, i've manufactured the balcony and laid down the floor on it. Next up i will finish off the walls, cut out the last windows, probably design a railing and then move on to the next floor. A floor which will be very narrow, ideal for snipers really. As there will be allmost no flooring at all. I also placed the badass leader for my nuln warband for scale. | |

| The Tavern is coming along TERRIFICALLY! I love the upper deck & its potential for daring deeds. The exposed bricks are a nice touch. GREAT WORK! | |

| This looks promising! Very nice work so far, from what I can tell it's going to be a fairly large building. I love buildings with platforms, terraces and walkways, so I'm curious to see how this will turn out! | |

| @DeafNala. Thanks! I'm quite pleased with the deck aswell. There will be a small railing on it, aswell as a stair leading down in the hole. I expect it to be a great defencive place when enemies are closing in, as i know i will divecharge from there if i get the change @Lion01. Thanks! Yes the building will be fairly large, probably one of the largest buildings on my board. I thought it would be nice if it was the centerpiece on the board since our gaming group has the same name as the tavern. | |

| Great work!
As to your questions, I have never really thought about the surface area when I play Mordheim. We usually just place the terrain (buildings and ruins directly on a green felt table top). However, I have been wanting to play around with the pink insulation as 12x12 squares of ground area though.

| Looking good, I like the layout so far. One thing tho, your wood seems quite clean. At least for ruins. I'd get a metallic brush and go over it to bring out the veins and add texture | |

| Can't believe it's been over half a year since i last posted. Ah well, haven't really had time for the hobby lately, which sucks. Though i bring some updates on the Emerald Gauntlet tavern, and more will come within a day or so. I've laid down a second floor, floorboards and started building on the first part of the roof. Next up is finishing the outer walls, add another level to build the higher part of the roof on and start cutting out the first floor out of blue foam. The setting for this board has somewhat changed into a Mordheim/Silvania setting instead of pure Mordheim. And for scale, one of my human slaves for my upcoming Lahmia warband. | |

| NICE PROGRESS! Even with the time, I find some projects just take forever to finish, but it is LOOKIN' GOOD. The overhang is particularly cool. Keep on plugging; it'll be done before you know it. | |

| Thanks guys! This building is part of what is to become an awesome looking table of huge proportions, suitable to hold up to 10 Warbands at once in Multiplayer without feeling too crowded! Here's a small update for today, i've finished the first roof section, added some woodwork and messed around with products for the outer walls. Also, windowshutters (the other ones lie on the floor inside the building) | |

| That's a fine bit of progress. The mind numbing roof tiles are up & LOOKING GOOD, as does the half timbering & upper story windows. The dangling shutter is a nice touch. GREAT WORK! | |

| Looks good. Alwats inspiring to see other people starting up their projects as I myself are in the early stages of it. Still havent decided if I will go for a modular table or do a normal table and build houses to put on it.
Where in Sweden are you living Paperbag? Im stationed in Karlstad. Would be nice to trade ideas and tips on where to get props and materials.
