- That is a great project and well done.
It will be fun to play on I'm sure. My only negative I can see to this is that the structure looks a little flat. I can see that the base of each one isn't done but I'm meaning the actual structure of it seams to be flat and lifeless compared to the rest of it. Maybe more rounding or just bulking it up beyound the cardboard thickness would help. Don't get me wrong the whole thing is great; just when comparing them together you have what looks like a real pit with real work done and a cardboard cut out is what they found. You're right. Thing is I got inspired from a book, so mostly tried to mimic. Second thing is that there is very little space to actually fit the wings in there. So making them thicker would've been problematic :S Ok so I'm going to work on this build in conjunction with another contest that might go up on a french website. The idea is that you have to make a table of at least 40x40cm where several things have to appear: fauna and flora of the place something like a statue, or symbol, and a gateway for creatures from the nexus. So I once saw a great piece of art, and totally loved it, and decided to use it as an inspiration for this piece. the art: http://jamga.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=192#/d1msmi4But for the group build I'll only do the flat part: the ruined buildings, trees and the giant pumpkin statue as a celebration for Halloween. The idea is that the mysterious creatures from the Nexus appeared out of no where, so the gate sprouted out of the earth, and destroyed a nearby village, which is now abandoned. They are celebrating Halloween is this ghost town. Here's my sketch:

| Being a Halloween kind of Guy I like the idea of the next project. If you post W.I.P. pics, I'm sure you get positive feedback. | |

| Thanks both. Dig will be reworked when I finish the new thing, or to do something different from the Halloween theme. First try for the pumpkins. I'm quite happy with the result as I was expecting something a lot worse. I'll try to add some texture with a rock or something similar | |

| Thanks! Thanks for all the replies... Finally time for an update. There has been a change of plans... Major changes actually. There is a "contest" on another website that lasts for 3 months. So considering I'd have finished most of the piece I decided I'd expand the original idea. I'm making a gaming table 180x120 cm in 30x30 boards. I have almost finished what will be shown for this build (all that was in the original sketch): 2 ruins, center with huge pumpkin, walls and stuff. I got a bunch of things to work on still but considering I started taking this seriously 3 days ago I feel I can make it. Here's where I'm at right now | |

| I've never been one to try to discourage anyone in their creativity...AND that looks really COOL! I've become a very Halloween kind if Guy over the years; SO the game board has a special appeal for moi. It may be a bit ambitious, but when it's done, win or lose, you'll have yourself a unique, ubercool gaming board that will fit with a number of games. Keep up the GREAT WORK! | |

| The bark texture looks good, but it could probably use a drybrush of grey to tone down the brown some. | |

| Thanks both So I've had a few hiccups these days, so to get back on track, I made a planning so I can finish this project in a few months. It's going to be pretty hard, with school and the exam period... But it's doable right? It'll also give me and people looking in here, an idea of where this is headed. I'll be doing 3 updates a week: tuesday/ thursday/ sunday. So it's going to start the 2nd! (it's in french so... might not be that useful lol) So, here's the first update, a day late. Non peinted ofc. Another bunch of trees home made, they are way better than my first, but some of the shapes are sausagy... But it was fun, even though the fimo clay was old and dry. Someone gave it to me so I have no idea how long he's had it for. But it's better than the clay which didn't even held on to the wire... The statue isn't final, I have to find a mini. And my hot wire cutter died, so I didn't finish the fountain. I'm not sure whether to buy a new hand held one, invest in a bigger one or make my own | |

| I like the look of the trees. I live surrounded by a grove of live oaks & pecan trees. Their limbs have the same twisted, spooky quality as your creations. The rough stone wall goes well with the trees. GREAT WORK! | |

| I could replie in french but it's funniest to try it in english ! For the trees, try some colours mix between brown and grey. Use brown as a base then drybrush in grey "dans le frais" ("in the fresh" when the base is not dry for our friends who speak shakespear's langage). You could use GW wash mix between sepia green and the holy devlan mud to put some natural tone to your trees. Watch the trees in real life for inspiration. Bonne continuation ! | |

| It looks like you're actually making up for lost time. The board or, by your dimensions, 2 boards, buildings, pumpkin, & park all look VERY PROMISING. I really like what you're doing with the bottom building. Keep up the GREAT WORK! We have been blessed with a few active Forum Fellows from Belgium. Hopefully a couple will find your thread. | |

| Thanks! Not much has happened, as all the tiles were separate I worked on putting pins in them so that they hold together nicely Also I started working on the demon mountain. Basically the idea is that it came out the ground, but I'm having a hard time replicating that. Any ideas how to make a mountain look like it popped out the ground? | |

Nice idea! Of course you should make the slopes VERY steep, nearly vertical if you ask me. Also you could create a shallow gully around the mountain, and this being daemonic, you could fill it with slimy dirty yellow/orange/green/purple water. You could carve out cracks, fissures and gullies in the terrain surrounding it. And aroud the edge you could place big slabs of broken rock at a slight angle, that way it will look like the mountain has broken up the earth when it popped up. I'm curious to see the progress on this!

| The video punked out on moi about 1/3 the way into it, but the part I saw looked good...the closed captioning was a nice feature for moi considering my inability to hear. Your work area has what I is a proper level of clutter for a creative mind. One idea for the raise portion is to have half each of the ruined structures on the bottom & remaining 1/2 on top giving the impression they were broken in two when the mesa arose. Having sections that have been forced up or down by the cataclysm is an EXCELLENT, IMAGINATIVE idea. | |

| Deafnala, i always like how you put certain parts in bold. Thanks for the compliment about the video. Made some progress so I'm happy, started with the hill, kinda carved it out and added big spikes. Main inspiration came from this: http://www.wowhead.com/zone=3522#screenshots:id=17091I also added an area where the troops that would poor out the gates could regroup. And I looked a tons of ref for ruins today so I'm super motivated and hopefully I'll get a video tutorial up and running about that tomorrow | |

| Nice nice nice! I really love all those WIP-projects! It seems you have ambitious plans for your table. The trees and wall look excellent; the buildings look promising and I'm curious to see how you finish all the 30x30 cm table pieces. | |

| Thank you both, I appreciate it So long time no update, and no video ha. I figured I'm not there yet to make any. Saw what it would look like and it wasn't great. Maybe if I get a tripod and a place with better light I might...in a few years... ha So big big news: I'm going to the US of A for about 4 months for volunteering work. I could use the change of scenery for sure. So yeah 4 months in New York might shake things up. That also means I won't touch terrain during that time and will put my project on hold. Trying to finish as much as I can before I leave on the 26th. Here's an overview of where I'm at (sort of): I tried to get organized and build it all from the bottom up (meaning the gate all the way to the other side of the table), so I got to the walls Here you can see a part of the wall with some trees to need to get finished On here there's a wall section with stairs and how it fits Broken wall here A small hut with archery stands Spikes coming out of the ground A house with wooden inside And with the roof: And current building that needs to be finished | |

| Looking good! I know it's a hell of a job to cut out all those individual stones, but it already looks terrific. As do the buildings and trees. I guess we'll have to wait a few months to see it all finished and painted... Any way, nice work and have fun in the USA! | |
