Lucius the Eternal

Yesterday, an order arrived... containing, amongst others, Lucius the Eternal, a great model I always wanted to paint. There he is:



Having extraordinary skills at converting miniatures (I even managed to add some greenstuff to an orks neck once!), I guessed it would not be a problem to eradicate all the unnecessary space armour...
However, it proved as difficult as I'd have expectetd had I thought about it beforehand... The part where the backpack should be attached was quite easy, but the pipes at his neck were some evil litte bastards! Eventually, both file and knife failed... Fortunately, my father is a dentist, so I went to visit him at work today and got to wield the weapon of my nightmares, a dentist's tool, excavator, whatever it is called in English... Using this, it was a lot of fun to file away all the tubes until only his neck remained. Below are some pics on how it turned out. I don't really know yet as it's hard to see, but I hope it will look fine.



In case it does, I'll be more than happy, as I can take revenge on the GW staff who are doing great conversions telling you they simply use this bit and that bit, which will amount at a few hundred Euros if bought by an ordinary human not working at a GW store...

AH, it ALL comes clear to me now. I was wondering why you were posting a 40K guy here, but you're going to turn him/it into a Fantasy guy to SCARE THE BEJEEZUS out of us all. COOL!

The Loyalist Space Marines remind me of poorly rendered knights, but their Chaos brethren have enough ornateness & character to survive the transformation to a Fantasy piece. I for one am looking forward to seeing what you make of Lucius. I'll bet it's going to be SPECTACULAR.

Nice work on the neck. That would make a great possessed magister with chaos armour. Is that what you are going for?

Actually, I don't really know. At first I wanted to paint him for the Contest, then I read that the entries need to be Mordeim related from some of the GW published stuff and tried to figure out what to use him for... and didn't have any idea. But possessed magister with chaos armour does sound good, so I might submit him eventually:)

The presentation of the mini ROCKS! It almost does it justice. I'm glad you decided to post it separately from the other Golden Tom Masterpieces; this way you can expect to get a few well deserved compliments. WELL DONE, mein Freund!

Looking at it now, I think I should perhaps file away the red tubes linking the body armour and the shoulder pads as well... As I have no varnish, they do not really look like the living veins or whatever I wanted them to look like...

Apart from that, I am quite content with him. He turned out nicely, is based on my first converted base ever and has been a step forward in my painting skills, too.

That model is so cool besides the fact that he's using a whip..

I've been reading the Horus Heresy where you actually get to "meet" him as the regular emperors children space marine he was before he converted to chaos, and he's a sword-ONLY kinda guy. The most skilled space marine alive with swords, and that's part of what made his downfall (making him overly arrogant because of this partly ended up turning him to chaos)

He should have 2 swords!! :O
