Upkeep: D6 Treasures, plus if his silks are ever damaged you must replace them immediately or Diego will leave. If you won your previous game and Diego was not taken Out of Action you may roll twice for this and choose the lower value.

Diego was the second son of an influential Marienburg trader and grew up enjoying the finest things from throughout the explored world. As he grew older he grew a desire to see all those wonderous places himself. Upon reaching appropriate age he convinced his father to fund his first expedition. Now two decades and immense fortune later he explores for the thrill of it more than for the money. While not in it for the money he has very expensive and whimsical tastes.

Rating: Diego increases the warband rating by 60

SPECIAL RULES

Expert Swordsman, Step Aside, Treasure Hunter, Dodge, Scale Sheer Surfaces

Treasure Hunter is the same as Wyrdstone Hunter academic skill from the main rulebook.

Connected: The warband Leader gains Streetwise, Haggle, and Greasing Some Palms as long as Diego is in the Warband.

Competitive: While Diego is in the warband no Local Guide or Explorer hired swords may be in or join the warband.

Excitable: If no enemies are within line of sight to Diego, but an objective is, Diego must pass a Ld test or attempt to complete the objective.

Survivor: Diego may re-roll any failed test caused by environmental or terrain conditions

Diego's Pistols are a brace of special Dwarf crafted pistols that count as Dueling Pistols that are immune to getting wet or damaged by the environment.

Diego's Helmet is a superbly made helmet that combines protection with fashion and comfort. It counts as a Pith Helmet, but provides full protection as a normal helmet would.

Greasing some Palms: The hero may throw a little money around in order to help them find rare items. If they fail a rarity roll they may immediately pay 2D6 gc to reroll their rarity test, this may only be done once per after-battle sequence. (This is a General Skill from the Southlands lists)


Amulet of Onaow-Bongo-Thuka: This magical amulet was given to Diego by a small island tribe he discovered, saved from disaster, and then vowed never to tell the location of. Most people think he made up the story. The Amulet may be used once per turn as one of the following items: Lantern, Antidote, Healing Herbs, Smelling Salt, or Spyglass.

Dramatis Personae are in my opinion really har d to get right. It is easy to get overboard on the rules and skills. However I think Diego has some great potential. To me DPs are there to give a setting some distinct flavour so
I just miss some more background to make him stand out from your run of the mill everyday hired sword.

It is good that he has a heavy upkeep since he doesn't have any clear weaknesses. and I like the grease some palms skill!

I smell a custom-built model!

He's intended to be a powerful all-rounder. He's not nearly as good combat-wise as other DPs, but he provides some out of combat help too. But he is risky as he's variable cost.
