BTB - Assassinated leader's equipment

If a warband leader with Chaos artefacts get assassinated through The Silent Threat achievement Assassination, what will happen with the artefacts? I reckon ordinary equipment is lost - is this also the case with the artefacts?

I somehow got the impression that the warband would keep his gear. But never got a game far enough to have that.

From the BTB section on chaos artefacts (page 37)...

Losing a Chaos Artefact
The Chaos Artefacts are protected by the Chaos Gods themselves and cannot be destroyed. If a model with one of these items is taken out of action place a marker. Any model may pick the item up by moving in contact with the marker. If the marker is not taken, the model out of action keeps the artefact and if it dies from its Serious Injuries it is given to the nominated warband leader, who took it from his unlucky comrade’s remains.

If the leader dies after the battle (e.g. in the Exploration phase) the artefact will be given to the new leader.

In the unlikely case of a Chaos Artefact being lost when no new owner can be determined, the next time a warband finds a Lesser Artefact it finds that Chaos Artefact instead.

The new leader would get the chaos artefact based on the second paragraph.

I'm not sure about the rest of the equipment but I would be inclined to allow the warband to keep the rest of the equipment also. I could definitely see the argument for all of the other equipment being lost though as that is the normal behaviour for equipment and chaos artefacts have a special rule to negate this.

The equipment (including artefacts) should remain with the warband.

Thanks! This will probably happen very soon in our campaign, since my centigor leader is not very popular with the other warbands....

I can see that character getting a lot of heat. Perhaps he was born to rock, live young, and die fast!
